re: Board favorite Jalen Milroe had "impressive" private workout with Saints, Browns

Sure but he has huge athletic tools if designed correctly and a humble work ethic with the right coaching. You are dismissing the character of the human.
quote:
When speaking to the media on Thursday, Milroe detailed a conversation with former Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien at the beginning of his career in which O'Brien suggested that Milroe's collegiate future may not be at quarterback.
"How would you feel if I told you that you suck," he said. "The biggest thing for me is to be true to myself and stay the same. Nothing changed about me. The only thing that changed was that I had the opportunity and I seized it. For me, it was to stay true to myself and add a bigger purpose to anyone's opinion ... He told me a bunch of positions that I could have switched to, but look where I'm at right now. Who gets the last laugh?"

Milroe is not an NFL QB and he really wasn’t a college QB. He’s been a RB that throws it sometimes and with terrible accuracy or decision making.
True.
quote:
It made sense that Milroe won the starting quarterback job at the beginning of the season. He held the team together and he'd played well enough in 2023 to earn the job in 2024. The season started well enough, including a terrific performance for him against Georgia in the biggest win of the season for the Crimson Tide.
But Milroe's struggles against Tennessee should have started the wheels churning for DeBoer and OC Nick Sheridan. And there's no real excuse for Milroe playing out the full game against Oklahoma in November - not with as poorly as he played and with as little as the offense produced.
So one of two things is true
quote:
Either 1) DeBoer stuck with Milroe out of fear of losing the team if he benched him. DeBoer also may have felt like he owed it to Milroe to stick with him because he held the roster together during the transition from Nick Saban's retirement to now.
But if that's true, it doesn't fully explain the visible frustration shown by Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard as Milroe missed throw after throw and outright ignored an open Bernard on several occasions.
quote:
Milroe's struggles get DeBoer a year-one pass. His hands were tied behind his back for most of the season because Milroe could not execute the offense that DeBoer wanted to run. And Milroe's struggles with reading defenses and processing information directly led to Alabama's issues running the football, too. Because defenses were able to play a certain way and Alabama could never get them out of it by hitting the plays that were there to be made.

I want nothing to do with Milroe.

Im not saying he’s not a great kid, I’m sure he is. I’ve listened to him in interviews and yes a well spoken kid but character only goes so far and he’s proven nothing so far that I’ve seen that he can overcome his deficiencies throwing the ball and reading the defense while getting through his projections.

“Impressed with his workouts…because they didn’t ask him to throw “
If the jets and browns are giving you first round attention, you should probably just go and sign up for bust status

I don't see him going in the top three rounds. I don't think I take him in the top 4 rounds if he refuses to play anywhere but QB.

Anthony Richardson 2.0. He sucks
Posted on 4/8/25 at 7:34 am to Fun Bunch
I don’t necessarily want Sanders, but I’d take Sanders at 9 over Milroe at any pick in the first three rounds.
QB is the hardest position to project, but it’s a stretch of the imagination to think Milroe can be a viable NFL QB.

Described as impressive by whom? The Saints? Browns? Jalen and his agent?

If Milroe dropped to the third/fourth round, I’d probably like him more. He’s not a first round guy at all, he’s a project that’s going to take 2+ years to fix purely mechanical flaws as well as hope to develop some field vision.

I sort of look at him like I looked at Anthony Richardson, although he was much much better than Richardson in college.
If he's a 3-4th rounder, you take that flyer on the athleticism and have him sit a year or two and see what happens.
If he's a 2nd rounder I really don't like it at all but I understand because of how athletic he is.
If he's a 1st rounder and starting early I want to puke

Exactly, there has been over 100 years of football and there has only been 1 Taysom Hill
He’s arguably the best player of all time

Agree with all this.
But I’m not sure he’s that much better than Richardson because the talent he played with was waaay better than what Richardson had.

He's better than Richardson in the sense that he played a lot of football, winning football, and had some really good games here and there.
Richardson couldn't get on the field for a trash Florida team and when he finally did he wasn't particularly good

When he finally hangs it up, maybe you guys will realize just how rare his skill set and ability were.
I don’t see milroe being Taysom 2.0 at all.
Are you really acting like Taysom is somehow under appreciated? He gets more glaze from the fans just because hes a white guy running in the wild cat
He's probably sold the most amount of jerseys for someone with his level of production. Hes just not that big of a contributor for someone who gets as much praise as he does.
He's averaged 23 rushing yards per game and 9 receiving yards per game throughout his career.

Uh no, The "I did it with Jalen" recipe.

I predict that the Saints draft him in the First Round.

Two teams that are absolute career killers.
