Jimmy Taylor. Really old guy here, been a Saints fan since day one. I would bet most of the young bucks have never heard of Jimmy Taylor.LSU full back way back in the late 50's, just before the '58 National Championship team with Billy Cannon, et al. He was on the Green Bay first ever Super Bowl twinning team, NFL HOF class of 1976 and LSU All-America. What did he do for the Saints? Unfortunately, not very much. He was pretty much used up by the time he played for the Saints and it was only for one year, the first Saints season of 1967. So, I guess it depends on what is the meaning of "Best LSU Saint." I'll go with Jimmy Taylor,

By this logic (which you are welcome to go by) Tyrann would be 1 or 2 at worst

My list: (1) Eric Martin - longevity of solid production; (2) Dalton Hilliard - greatest Saints season by an LSU player but very short peak; (3) Devery Henderson - longevity and Super Bowl contributions.

Thanks for the reply and I agree with you

. I would mention that it is not so much logic as it is reading interpretation/comprehension. I, and you, know what the OP was asking, and if he had said the best LSU Saint who displayed the most athleticism, produced the best stats, or was the best team leader, etc. we have a better defined starting point. He did not and the title was nebulous, at best.

I'm not trying to be a dick or start an argument.Just making conversation.

Didn’t think you were (and I wasn’t trying to be)

Agree this could be best saints player who went to LSU. Or best LSU player who was a saint. Or player who was the best at both places.

I just wanted to add that if it’s best LSU player who was a Saint, I’d find it hard to not crown TM7, because I think he very well may be a top 5-7 LSU player of all time, who then lead the saints in turnovers created for 3 seasons to boot.

Not to mention, I added Taylor's Super Bowl ring and Mathieu got one with the Chiefs.I know TM7 recently retired and has the 5 year wait, but surely he will be in the running for the HOF?

I looked up JT31 NFL stats and I thought I saw he was the first ever running back to rush for over 1000 yards for five seasons in a row. That was in a 12 game season. He also went to five Pro Bowls and won the MVP over Jim Brown in, I believe, 1963.

No matter how you rate them, these were two outstanding football talents.

If TM7 gets into the HOF we will talk again.

Take Care

Jimmy Taylor may have had the best pro career but his glory days were with the Packers, not the Saints. By the time he got here he was washed up.

This is almost verbatim what I stated in my post. The discussion was about what metric are we using via the subject title to determine "Best.", which was not very well defined. I realize this is splitting hairs, but, being an old guy (also stated in my post) I saw an opportunity to give a little LSU history and was justified in mentioning JT31 because, by the subject title, he was both LSU and a Saint.
