The upside that Shough has over Rattler is OBVIOUS. Whoever doesn’t see that, doesn’t want to see it. Neither is really more consistent than the other.

Shough looks like an NFL starting QB. Rattler does not.

He looks really fluid, once he shows comfort.

He needs to keep going back to Big Mo, his TE.

They both look decent vs backups.

Rattler looks better vs 1’s currently. I dont get picking sides.

It’s clear Shough has more upside from the eye test. That and the fact that we spent a 2nd rounder on him, I don’t see how he’s not starting

I actually like he and Welch. Both have shown a willingness to fight for the catch and through contact

This is why the Saints are so bad because of negativity from certain Saints fans.

They both still got a lot of work to do but let it play out.

Rattler the Starter but only if he plays up to standard, if not it's Shough 's job.

If they are even (with Shough CLEARLY having more upside), there is no reason to start Rattler.

You drafted Shough because he was so mature and had dealt with a lot of adversity……you shouldn’t need to coddle him and “protect” him from a tough part of the schedule

I feel like Shough has more upside. But the offense is so limited with our WRs and OGs. Neither of these guys is going to elevate the players around him. Just not who they are. I’d almost hate for Shough to start and struggle all season and become a failure.

This is the biggest overlooked factor all this preseason. These are glorified scrimmages. No one has noticed or even mentioned how bland these defensive schemes are. Just generic defensive fronts, coverages & even blitzes when used. Shough's inexperience will really show in regular season when teams actually scheme & game plan. It's going to be ugly & a nightmare for him when defenses show one coverage pre snap & jump into something else post snap. Same goes for exotic stunts & blitzes upfront.

I would question why not call designed reads/runs for Rattler as well, unless you don't want to be fair to him OR he is your starter and you don't want to overexposed him to possible injury.

Rattler I think has been a little more accurate and is a little better moving in the pocket, but they both look comfortable now, and Shough really has seemed to improve each game. Definitely feels like start Rattler and protect Shough from too early exposure, then start Shough later in the season after some development to see how he does. Then you can compare and assess fairly.

Exactly! It’s as easy to see as black and white

Shough clearly is a better quarterback at this time.

This is just my eye test obviously, but Shough looks the part to me. Rattler does not.

Having said that, I’m fine giving rattler a shot to start the year and if he performs, great. If he doesn’t, hand the reigns to Shough and let’s find out what we actually have.
