Almost every season ends in disappointment. It's a toxic relationship and we're all traumatized. Our families must be worried about us.

And the worst of all is I passed down fandom to my son. He text me yesterday saying the guy that injured Carr can go kill himself.

Ultimately it's our fault because we're dumb for doing this.

At least as I've gotten older, I can flush the losses in an hour. I enjoy the wins all week though.

I went into this season expecting it to be very much up and down, week to week. If we somehow won 9 games, okay. That’s who we are.

So, I decided to just pull for the team and be happy when we won.
It’s much healthier this way.

I'm gonna play it off and say he's just "passionate."

The reality is every season ends in disappointment for 31 teams (sometimes 30 if you're optimistic about the #1 pick).

Don't read too much into this statement; but if you are "traumatized" by the outcome of a game where you have absolutely no control over; you need some self-reflection. As soon as Grupe missed that kick, all I did was say "well, shite" then I got up and started prepping my steaks to go throw on the grill once the final play was done. Started playing with the kids and helping the wife with the cleaning around the house.

The reality is, as much passion as we want to put into "our teams", watch the players immediately after the games. 90% of them have moved on. Why should we let the outcomes affect us emotionally when the players don't?

I hope I get there one day. Losses still very much affect my mood for the week.

since I have swapped from being a saints fan to a fan of the UFC, sports life has been much more enjoyable. while I root for certain fighters, I dont get upset if they lose I actually respect the performance of the other fighter. I never bitch about refs, flags, or any of that shite. The fighters themselves have cool personalities and they arent forced to hold back their beliefs or opinions because of PC BS. There is actual true diversity in the sport as there are people from all over the world from every background. They dont need to preach diversity and all the other bs like the nfl because they actually have it instead of being like the nfl 90% one race. While the sport of football is great and fun to watch, the nfl is garbage.

This, they're hugging and chatting it up like a high school reunion out there laughing about their millions. I refuse to let their losses ruin the remainder of my day with my family.

I did the same thing, said whelp and put the burgers on (we can't afford steaks).

Maybe a bit off topic but I feel like almost everyone has these extreme, out of pocket opinions now. I assume it's bc so many grew up with the internet and it's an attempt to be noticed in a sea of voices. Not exactly applicable to your post but it's been on my mind recently.

My little brother sounds unhinged sometimes just talking about regular shite like a TV show or food. Everything is either trash, horrendous, terrible or it's GOATed, fantastic, etc. So he sounds even more unstable during football games and things he's into. Lol. It's obviously present here as well but I thought this place tends to be older than average so so knows. Maybe everyone is just unhappy these days.

Some of that has crept in with the current all-or-nothing mentality that seems to permeate everything nowadays. If we allow ourselves to have reasonable expectations while maybe holding loosely onto the wild hopes it becomes fun again. Or at least for me, that is the case. There is some disappointment but I move on almost immediately and think about what I reasonably expected vs what I hoped for from the team. I hoped for 3-0 and could have talked myself into 3-0 being reasonable because I did think it was unreasonable. I reasonably expected 2-1 or 1-2.

So I am a tad disappointed with the record and a bit more disappointed by the game itself but I'm OK now and looking forward to the next game.

Not sure if this is a joke or not but I'll go out on a limb and say your family needs counseling.

I am 65 and have been watching the Saints since I've been 12 years old. I remember sitting in my living room watching by myself and watching the Saints getting throttled every week almost but I still support them to the highest degree. I never let it ruin my week or even the rest of the day. It's a game and entertainment so that's the way I treat it.

I don't expect much from this season or this team. Especially with Allen at coach. But what pisses me off is losing to the likes of Jordan Love and that lame duck LeFleur being up 17 points. These bum QBs and coaches have been making a career out of us since I can remember.

I was mad during the game and it put a damper on my Sunday but that was it. I used to be more of a diehard but the no call killed part of my fandom that never recovered.
