30M is worse? Not after he threw for 350 and 3 touchdowns in back to back playoff games. Baker actually clicked with the guys in Tampa Evans, Godwin, White they all balled out.

Theyre both at $33.33 per year essentially bro.

Carr and Baker had equal seasons last year also. Very similar stats and records.

Difference is last year was an average year for Carr and a career year for Baker.

At least Tampa got the cheap year out of Baker where you can argue he earned this deal by looking good in the postseason and hitting career highs in the regular season. I think he was around top 10 in everything.

Yup, it was obvious he was going to get 30 plus mill a year.

But problem for Bucs is whether its an outlier. Baker hasnt had two good seasons in a row in the NFL.

The term career year applies to Baker for last season, whereas Carr has averaged approx. 25/10 for his career, and last season was on par with his averages.

I was in here saying we should went after Baker two years ago. Or someone competent that was cheap to get our cap in check.

I also said I would not have paid Carr anything over 30. No doubt this is an overpay but at least he won the division for them. And they didn’t pay him shite last year.

So you can say it was really like a 4 year 107 million contract.

And you guys thought we were bad for paying Derek Carr all that money. This one is worse.

Not even close.

Really bad take. Bakers best season (last year) is basically Carr’s average season, statistically.

The Carr cocksucking has gone to a new level. Dude is straight garbage. I mean dumpster fire trash.

Mayfield is light years better than Carr. And he doesn’t wear makeup like a fig.

Tampa has now won the division 3 years in a row.

The Saints were perceived to be the favorites to win it last year and even the Falcons were getting some love too.

Most people wrote Tampa off because Brady retired and assumed they'd regress. I'm on the king of the mountain theory that they will win it again in 2024. Until someone steps up otherwise, it is what it is.

if Cousins does go to Atlanta the media will immediately crown them the favor to win just you watch.

Edit: I recall a large amount of ranters on here insisting that Baker wouldnt get close to Derek Carr money.

Do you understand what an increase in salary cap means?

Derek Carr got the largest FA contract for a QB in history which is terrible on many fronts. Namely the amount of money you are paying him and secondly the fact that he’s a shitty enough to be a QB in his “prime” who was actually available to sign.

Mayfield is a more likable team mate and metro area resident than Carr.

Regardless of talent, I’d at least enjoy rooting for him. I can’t do the same with Fake Carr.

Yea Carr has never won a playoff game. Baker has won two. Carr rarely has winning seasons. Last year was a good year for Carr in that respect

Great deal for us. Signing a rich deal to old QB. Seems a Saints move to me.

That’s a much more realistic contract to give to this caliber of QB. Mayfield just made peanuts last year after winning the division and a playoff game. So you could almost say he’s owed something. $5million per year less than Carr. Incentives to make sure he stays motivated. Half the guaranteed money that Carr is getting. Only 3 years. Who knows how long we will be stuck with Carr. I still think it’s too much but unlike when Carr signed with us, there were most likely a few suitors coming after baker. It’s so weird to be celebrating this contract as a saints fan. “Oh hey look the Bucs are almost half as dumb as we are, yay!!”

I love those comments, look someone else did something stupid so it’s ok if we do stupid stuff

What the sycophants who think nothing the team does can be criticized still fail
To grasp is the Saints have an old and expensive roster and a front office pursuing a win now strategy even though they’ve failed to make the playoffs for 3 years. But it’s ok, Paul Bean can give us a 10,000 word essay with graphs showing us that no team makes the playoffs every year

Lol not a chance.

Edit: wow, crazy it appears he did sign for minimum

Second edit: Wilson did it to spite Broncos, who would have gotten to pay him less if he signed for more than vet minimum.

And he cost 33.33 mill a year now.

Dont need to you basically admitted it, and tried to flip flop. Baker was def priced out of the 25 mill a year range.

He stayed with the Bucs and probably gave them a discount, because this market is starving for qb’s Daniel Jones 40 mill a year etc.
