the fanbase is completely complicit in the run-it-back shit, too.
The fan base doesn’t coach this team nor make personnel decisions. We buy tickets and beer. Not that important.

Im 100% down to watch 0-17 to get top pick in 2024. I don’t want to watch middle of the pack football every year. Get a stud qb.

YES, this is the answer.
It's not just about picKS, either. Cut dead weight and open up cap space

They also had an established head coach and a good quarterback. You have to have a plan if you want to tank and unless you have a QB to build around it doesn't matter. Next year's QB draft is better than this year's.

Only caveat is they aren’t all studs. Just ask Cincy, Clev, NYJ, Chi…fans.

But how many QBs did they need to go through before finally landing Burrow

Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are better than Zach Wilson, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Mitch Trubisky, Justin Fields. Does that mean they will 100% turn into stars? No. But the talent level and potential is higher than all those other guys I mentioned.

Tank lmao. I'd be shocked if Allen makes it half a season. I think 2023 gonna be a colossal failure without the Saints even trying to tank. If I'm a player I'm going into that offseason with absolutely no confidence in Allen.

I have little doubt that DA, if he doesn’t make any coaching changes, particularly on offense, won’t be here next year. We will suck without any help and earn a top 5 pick. And I’m all for that. I would hate to just lose a year but we pretty much already lost one anyway.
I hope it doesn’t come to that point. I’d like to see DA pull a Campbell and swap OCs and start seeing the team play better, even if we don’t make the playoffs. I wanna see coaching changes, the offense play better and see dudes giving a shite. A lot of times you didn’t see guys caring. Even when the Lions lose, you can tell they fricking care. Even if we go 9-8, THATS what I want to see. I don’t want to hear any fricking “stay the course” bull shite from DA this off-season. And I think that’s the thing that pisses me off the most about him.

“Tanking” implies you have a choice. We’re keeping DA, which means we are going to lose a lot of games whether we want to or not.

It's very rare to win without an elite qb. There are imo 2 future pro bowl qbs next year. I would tank to get one of them. Trade all the aging players and start anew.

Honestly I do not see much difference between 8-9 and tanking.
In some ways 8-9 is so much worse because the final 3-4 games you are running on hope. Plus to me are you excited if you are Tampa, Seattle or Minnesota right now.
That is why I do not get all the Geno Smith Love. You have basically gone as high as you are going to go with him. You will probably never win the division, so you will always be fighting for a road playoff game usually against the #1 or #2. So sign up for another 2-3 years of this and then where are you at.

Yes. I've been saying that this whole season once we missed on Watson. You can't win without a top QB.

I think they'll have to tank 23 and 24 to get right.

Bump on this thread now that we have a clearer view of our picks in the ‘23 draft.
I think it would be very interesting if there was a groundswell of fan support for taking a season for Caleb Williams.
