I hated that Sean Payton didn't have the fire to go for it on fourth down being down two scores, was basically giving the damn game away. Scored a garbage TD later. You fked up Sean, that's not how you ball.

I was all for going it there, but I at least somewhat understood the decision.

If you don't get any points, you have to go the length of the field twice and score two TDs. You take 3 points there and you'll only have to drive the full length once and just get in FG range the second time.

I think it was more trust in his defense than "giving up."

Looking back, the final score was decided by more than 4 points as the Rams went down and scored again after that decision, so really it wouldn't have mattered either way.

I'll bash Payton with the best of them but this whole he should have gone for it there argument is gay. He has lost us so many games over the years by gambling in those situations and not taking the points. There was damn near an entire quarter to go and you are for sure only down by 10, instead of 13 and them still having the ball. If not for a BS pass interference on Sterling Moore we probably would have gotten the ball back in good field position pretty quickly.

I would have been pissed and cussing Payton out if I saw the offense stay on the field and go for it there. We've been burned too many times in the past with that stupid shite. It's the NFL, with that much time and your O sucking, you take the points when you can get them.

ETA: I think Ingram and Mike Thomas are great players. Saying that, if they didn't want it bad enough to get in the endzone on that drive, screw it, kick a field goal. Lutz wanted it more than they did.

ETA 2: I honestly assumed there was more like 10 minutes to go, but even if only 6, still take the points.

I think you have to go for it there. chances are that you will lose anyway but if you score there you get a huge amount of momentum.

No he didnt take the sure points have faith in the defense will get you the ball back. But one thing I noticed was if we had that one timeout left that drew used I think in the third quarter we could have gotten the ball back since we stopped them but oh well.

I was just surprised we didn't see the old "hard count everyone knows it's coming , wasted time out" play

Yeah, he elects to kick an onside kick in the Super Bowl but doesn't go for it on 4th down?
How the Saints respond this week against Carolina will tell us if the Saints are Championship caliber.
We'll see.

He was betting on the defense to hold them so we could get the ball back. I understand it both ways, but that will hopefully payoff down the stretch that the defense knows the coach believes in them and is willing to back them up, unlike years past. And the offense wasn’t a sure bet to get a first anyway.

And we didn’t give up. We made a score and tried for an onside kick. It was a different route, but if we don’t get it, we end up losing worse than we did.

Nah I'll trust Payton and coming from me, who wanted him gone, say alot.

Truth is, the Saints never had the juice Sunday. It was clear to me they just didn't have "it" last weekend. Coaches see these things too, though they'd never ever admit it.

We should have all seen it coming. Big miracle comeback the week before, long trip west, Rams handled the week before...all added up. Get the points, stay close, try and pull a miracle again.

That's just stupid. It's reasonable to question the call. It's dumb to describe it as giving up.

It was 8 minutes to go, not 6. While I would have gone for it, we still have a chance if we get a defensive stop there

meh, he relies on drew to be able to score 20 points in the last 2 minutes, he always has.

been years since drew was even remotely capable of doing that, but payton just "assumes" anything over 2 minutes and you punt the ball. in 2006-2010 i agree with him but after 2010 this wasnt a logical assumption to assume drew can always score 2 TD in under 3 minutes anytime you need it.

that said, it wasnt a spot to take a risk with so much time still left in that game but overall he has shown a trend to not know when its time to say he is out of time.

i think they can still manage 10-6 record and not sure where that gets them but dont expect more

Saints had their largest 4th quarter comeback in franchise history last week

Literally the only time we've ever done that....

You don't think we can win 3 games out of...Panthers, Falcons twice, Jets, & Bucs? Maybe if Lattimore & Crawley don't return.

We'll most likely be the favorite to win all of them besides @Atlanta (I think we split against the Falcons). The Panthers have the same record as we do, but we match up very well against them. Also, the Bucs have basically already mailed it in, & their head coach is in way over his head. I also can't see us losing to the Jets unless we have a huge brainfart.

theres really no argument to not go for it. even with the field goal we still had to score 2 more times and there just wasn't time for that. And even if you don't score on 4th, you have them backed up and can force a punt and get short field

He was outcoached the entire game. Thats one call is not why we lost.
