old news. PFT Commenter broke it first that Aaron Rodgers is retiring from the NFL to become the full time host of Jeopardy

Trade vs FA

We lose a lot in a trade. Tampa lost nothing by acquiring TB12 in FA

[b]Next 2 years his cap hit is $37 M and $39 M, largest hit in the league. Love on rookie deal is better bargain.[/

Reigning MVP or guy who has never thrown a pass in the league.

Im assuming a bargen on the price not quality
Hell ill play for 100k im a bargin, sign me up im basically aaron

Rodgers replaced a 3 Time MVP in Favre. Who's to say Love wont become an MVP down the road as well.

Seems Packers brass is thinking that way.

His cap hits in 2021 and 2022 would not be near $40 million to the team that trades for him.

If they trade him, GB has to eat $31.556 Million of his deal in guarantees. New team would take on his roster bonus($6.8M), and then his base salaries and workout bonuses.

So it would look like this:
2021 - $22.85 Million
2022 - $25.5 Million
2023 - $25.5 Million

This is with none of 2022 or 2023 guaranteed.

That is how trades work. The team getting the player is paying the cap hit the original team does.

You're correct. Which is why GB wanted to wait one more season to then shop him. Rodgers wants to move on his terms now and not wait. He saw how GB treated Favre. Traded him to the Jets, not where he preferred.

My gut feeling—and that’s all it is—is he’d prefer to not play football this year than to play for the Packers.

well he's from California.

you can't really think he is trying to push a specific team so he can be closer to the jeopardy set...right?

Why is GB so anxious to get him out?
It's so dumb.

Seeing Brees/Brady play so well into their 40s, it makes no sense to want to cut bait with Rodgers after this season, given he just won the MVP.

I really dont care all that much to delve into if he would or would not. What i do know is he has the retirement card to play anytime he gets unhappy. He always just generally seems unhappy.

But hey, if people really want to send Green bay multiple high picks for a guy who may play a couple of more years have at it.

All things considered why not try for Wilson after this year? Yea he may be "disgruntled" as well but he has been running for his life since he got there.

This

Any team will have to give up a lot to get him.

How many teams can do that and still be in the position to win a SuperBowl over the next few years.
