I didn't watch much OSU this year and these seem to be the 2 most likely guys to be available for us at 16. What are the real differences in the 2 guys? Both seems pretty athletic with Wilson having a slight edge in the ability to get over the top and Olave seems to be more like Devonta Smith...great route runner on a slight (but not DS-slight) frame.

How do you rank the other WR prospects that are possibilities? I know Burks from Arkansas and I really don't want him b/c of the physical profile of Thomas and Jameis as our QB. I'm also not the biggest fan of "contested catch" WRs and want guys who can get open with route running. We're not the 2010s Panthers.

Wilson will be gone before any of our picks Imo. Most see him as WR1 or 2 at the lowest.

You have Olave nailed, he’s basically a slighter thicker Devonta Smith. I think he can run deep routes but I expect him to be more of a shifty slot WR in the NFL personally.

I have zero interest in Burks. He didn’t athletically impress anyone at the combine. I don’t see the Saints taking him considering our fascination with high potential athletes/RAS.

Drake London I haven’t seen much on because it’s pretty consensus he’ll be gone before our pick

Jameson Williams is complicated because honestly if healthy I think he’s exactly the WR we need. He’s got a track background and is primarily a deep threat with fantastic speed but he can do other stuff too. I also shamefully am pro drafting Alabama WRs because the history of first round Alabama WRs in the last decade is really damn good. But obviously he’s injured and this team desperately needs day 1 impact, so I’d be worried about the time in camp he could miss.

The most interesting thing to me is that the lowest RAS score first rounder the Saints have drafted since 2016 is Sheldon Rankins (8.5). Everyone else had above a 9. And in the overall draft, we’ve only drafted like 6 or 7 players below an 8. So it’s very clear this team targets traits. No WR discussed in this post has above an 8. But, Christian Watson from North Dakota State, concisdered by many a 2nd rounder, has a 9.96 RAS. So, keep an eye on him.

EDIT; we don’t have a RAS on Jameson since he hasn’t participated in anything so it’s possible he would score high

Everyone is sleeping on Alec Pierce. 6'3" 215lbs and blew up the combine. Good route runner. Was double teamed all day vs. Alabama

I agree and I think people on this board are ignoring that there are 2 potential DEs who are basically orgasm-worthy DEs for our FO in terms of traits.

Walker and Johnson are literally Saints prototype DEs, from the height/weight/arms to testing profiles.

But I'll save that for another thread b/c this one is about WRs.

Alec Pierce will be the steal of the draft. Elite athleticism. Deep threat that can beat guys with his speed or go up and win 50/50 balls. Contested catches. Played outside and in the slot. Doesn't mind going over the middle. Creates separation with route running not just running away from guys. Knows when to sit down against zone coverage. 6'3 200+ lbs and uses his frame to counter physical play from DBs and when blocking. Not to mention, he went up against Sauce Gardner in practice every day for the last 3 years. And should be available in the late second to mid 3rd round.

Olave seems like the perfect compliment to Thomas.

I like pierce. He will be a steal later in the draft.

I hope the saints come away with one of garrett Wilson or Jameson williams.

Pierce may get picked by green bay in the 1 rst . He and London are my favorite

Drake London is overrated. No real separation makes tough catches tho. Reminds me of MT. Pierce is trash. Compared to other fair skin receivers, he’s nothing. Jameson Williams is the best WR in this draft next to Burks. Burks reminds me of a bigger Debo Samuel.

Y'all got me wanting multiple receivers now.

Same. Although I am always worried about anyone coming off of injury. I understand times are different, but it still always gives me hesitation.

Any chance the Saints draft two receivers? I don't mean with the b2b picks, but maybe 1 in the first and another with the 49th pick? Would love to go WR, LT, WR again.

I read Wan'Dale Robinson could be a better Brandin Cooks.

I'd love to get two of Wilson, Olave, Burks, Watson, Williams, Pierce, Robinson.

frick it, I'm taking Olave at 16, Jameson at 19, and Offensive Tackles in the 2nd and 3rd round.

Throw numbers at the positions.

I didn’t watch a ton of tOSU games, but from what I saw, I feel like Wilson is just an athletically gifted guy like Jamar Chase, but Olave is an overachiever/precision route runner/fight for the ball type guy who does all the little things like a Terry McLaurin.

I honestly think both of them could be gone by our pick.

If not for Williams injury, he might be the best of all of them.

Value will be too good in 2nd & 3rd to take a WR in the first. Unless it’s Jameson Williams who otherwise would have went in the top 10 if healthy.

Either one of these guys at 16 would be fine but it’s gotta be a WR. They can do as they please with 19 as long it’s OL or QB. For gods sake not another DL in the first.

Would love either Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, or Drake London, but London and Wilson will probably be gone, so I would be very happy with Olave.

Furthers my theory that we're taking one of the prototype DEs

I don’t think they slip but at one point thought the FSU kid would be a target.

I would keep an eye on the DTs tho
