Just coming to post the same thing. He flashed tremendous speed and vision on this play
Nobody else on the team can make that play.

Does someone pay you idiots to repeat that lie over and over again? We did not give up 2 picks, we swapped this years!
You're right. We didn't use 2 picks. We used 3!!!
Why is simple arithmetic so hard for people like you to understand?? We gave up 3 picks and received one in return. We used that pick on Davenport. So effectively, we used 3 picks on Davenport.
Is this actually difficult to understand?

If you give up what we gave up for Davenport, I think we should expect a day one starter and contributer.

would it make you happier and the situation better if he said we 'spent' 2 first round picks on him. How ever you look at it, it is 2 first round picks from the Saints gone for Davenport.

What I want to know is what is it that the Saints saw that made them think he was going to step right in and be a difference maker? He is a good enough athlete but he is not some physical freak. He didn't dominate games at a small college. You don't give up, or spend if you rather, two first round picks on a pick who is a developmental player.

Lose 2 first round picks. Gain one first round pick. What is the net loss here?

I can't believe this discussion is still going on.
Y'all are obsessed.

I feel like any discussion about Davenport will instantly turn into this argument over semantics

that isn't up for discussion when its said 2 1sts for Davenport. Don't change the conversation.

What is the conversation at this point?
We have people in here declaring him a bust after one game. Might as well argue over semantics.

2 first round picks for Davenport
Posted on 9/12/18 at 1:30 pm to Chad504boy
Alright, but what if I think they swapped first round picks, then the Saint gave them one?
Posted on 9/12/18 at 1:31 pm to ramchallenge
Your math is a farce. We swapped first round picks this year and traded them next years 1st round pick. So, we only gave up 1 first round pick. And to suggest that after 1 game, where the player actually got a sack (the NFL reviewed it and it was not a penalty--shouldn't have been called) you are going to call him a bust? Are you high? Seriously, what kind of vacuum do you live in?
Posted on 9/12/18 at 1:48 pm to eyeran
semantics aside, that play is impressive

So was ziggy ansah and he played well the second half of his rookie year. Also played well since then.
DEs are premium guys, you gotta take a swing at them. Davenport has the athleticism to be amazing, but the technique and iq has to catch up.

You’re even dumber than the ones that say it cost us 2 first round picks

There was a cost to drafting Sheldon Rankins you know.

the problem with the trade/selection is that it only works if we really needed a situational guy this year with the super depth we had. that all appears to be a myth and the "win now" moves are going to frick us hard in the next couple years
We are in "win now" mode, that's not a myth. We aren't winning a super bowl without Brees within the span of a rookie contract.

really???? hope he comes around before its too late in the season!!!
Lawrence Taylor played a nondescript game his rookie regular season debut, not directly comparing Davenport to LT by any means relative to merit but we did concede assets to draft him and the reports on his pre-draft attributes were splendid, don't put the cart before the horse on greatness, my man
