1st Round WR- who should it be?

Yes, I know the saints have prioritized early picks in the trenches recently. However, I don’t think the need at WR has even been bigger than this offseason.
Our WR play this year was flat out poor. We didn’t threaten defenses with big plays, and they weren’t exactly reliable pass catchers in the short/intermediate game either. I think you could make a strong argument that the saints had a bottom 5 WR group last year. Now we head into an offseason with Trequan and Deonte Harris without guaranteed money, Thomas as a huge injury question mark, and Callaway with just one more season under contract. We need to figure out if Jameis is the guy- can’t do that if he’s playing QB with the WR group as currently constructed. So who is the pick?
My early order:
1) Treylon Burks. I can’t help but see an AJ Brown type of player when I watch Burks. Just a physical beast who can win downfield as well as after the catch. He’s not exactly a polished player yet but I think he has the best chance of becoming an elite WR in this class.
2) Garrett Wilson- best combination of skill and athleticism in this tier. Plays bigger than his size IMO. Comparable to a DJ Moore player, maybe? Successful at all 3 levels of the defense.
3) Jameson Williams- long speed and burst are elite. He would give our team an added dimension as a real deep threat from day one. The Ruggs comparison will be popular because of the school but I think Williams is more natural as a pass catcher. The ACL injury is obviously not ideal, but if everything checks out medically at the combine, I see no reason to drop him much, if at all.
I think any of those 3 would be GREAT picks at #18. I’d consider them all easily
Top 15 talents.
I’ve seen Olave and London also up in this mid-first round range. Olave to me is more of a very good #2 WR than a true alpha. Great technician but he didn’t stand out athletically to me when I watched him play. I’d be okay with him at #18 but not excited. Didn’t see enough of London to have thoughts.

We already know it will be a DE from Northwest Iowa or their top rated Center

I would prefer a solid vet wr like juju or Gallup and then draft someone like justyn Ross in the 3rd or Pickens in the middle rounds to develop.

Why not both? Most elite passing offenses now have at least 3 good pass catchers

Let's assume that MT's doesn't have to amputate that ankle...
MT healthy
Harris/harty (assuming we resign)
Nfl vet on friendly deal
Calloway
I think this is pretty solid. MT is great, Harris/harty really improved this year, and Calloway is good as a 3-4th option
ETA... this whole offense will look better with Thomas. Harty becomes that much more dangerous deep. Calloway is facing a much lesser db

Is that possible 3 months after injury (4 1/2 for draft)? Sure, he may be able to check the boxes in progress; but w an ACL isn’t the weight bearing and cutting when he can check off the boxes for a team to invest a 1st round pick on him?

I wouldn't take him at #18, but if he's sitting there in the 30s, I'd trade up

Hopefully Garrett Wilson is still on the board. If he is I think that’s the pick

jameson wilson. jameson winston connects with jameson wilson for a 40 yard td. sounds good.

I’m no doctor, but I’d assume that far post-surgery they can look at things structurally and see if it looks good or not. ACL’s aren’t exactly a unique injury nowadays. Should be a pretty established baseline for what looks good and what doesn’t

We need several WR's. Outside and Slot. Also need a TE. Also a QB.
1st rd WR's don't always pan out. I'd be ok with getting a TE or QB 1st rd and dedicating 2-3 picks later in the draft for WR.

With missing rookie camp, mini camp & being limited at training camp as well as preseason, Williams will be behind the learning curve. He's not going to be the productive player right out of the gate like some believe he will. The other factor is the majority of players don't regain full confidence in the knee until the next following season after ACL surgery. Williams simply won't be what many expect him to be in 2022 if drafted by the Saints. You wouldn't see the complete Williams until the 2023 season. As of right now, with the need at WR, the Saints simply can't afford to go that route.

You forgot Mahomes
It's like they expect Payton to do some sort of magical leap ahead of people who decide to pick the guy we had our eye on.

I totally agree with that WR list. Burks will be an eventual WR1 on whichever team he ends up on. Best WR in the draft. Love Garrett Wilson too as a close second.
I'd group Olave and and Jameson in the same tier. Olave has some crisp route running. In my opinion, after these 4 WRs there's a drop off in talent. Not saying any of the remaining WRs are bad, but I can definitely see the Saints moving onto the next best available player outside of WR.

He's the perfect Trequan Smith replacement because he's much better than Smith at doing the things Smith was drafted to do. Be a physical deep threat who can high point the ball against man coverage. As a receiver Smith has been underwhelming. The only thing he really does well is block in the run game which Burks does well himself. You aren't going to get that with Garrett Wilson or Chris Olave.

Good point. You sold me, but I still think tackle is seriously in play at #18

I'd be very happy with him for our pick.
