1 year ago there was talk of the Saints being the most attractive landing spot for a coach

Did it take less than a year for them to become the clear-cut worst? We've go an unfireable GM, no first round pick, and a salary cap situation that makes it virtually impossible to build a roster you would want.

They still have a ton of talent.

Yep.
Maybe we can trade sean for a pick to get a young qb.

A sizable portion of that is AGING talent.
IMHO, the Saints are not an attractive org for a proven HC to join. If the Saints fire DA, they will have to hire some DC or OC or some NFL re-tread HC. This franchise's current situation is bleak. The future is bleak, IMHO.

We went from one of the best to one of the worst in less than a year.
I would say almost every other opening this offseason would be better.
That's why they may have to keep DA on for another year, because no one worth a shite will want the job until we have picks, or a QB, or the cap situation is more under control.

I mean the roster is still somewhat attractive. You can see clearly where alot of the issues this year are directly from coaching/injury. The no first round pick is just a one year concern so Im not sure I see that running anyone off. Now is it as attractive as it was before this clusterfrick of a season? no. but i wouldnt say it's less attractive than carolina.

There’s still only 32 of these jobs.
Identify a good young coach and hire him

You can argue that it’s more attractive now since it won’t take much to be better than the current staff….

But no QB.

Not even a top 10 issue on the field last night.

But THE top issue on the season. Don't be so myopic and obtuse.

I don't agree.
I would say the TOP issue is not having Michael Thomas back and healthy.
Then you can go down the list of injuries and new players not living up to their expected roles.
Andy Dalton has been a very nice addition and has competed hard for us.

sean payton with andy dalton would have us in the playoffs very year. he isnt a brady or a rogers but he is more than capable QB if you have a decent HC and offensive coordinator to work with him
he is giving us the same level of QB play, if not more, that brees gave us the last 8 years he was here and no one was calling for brees to be replaced and cut from the team

Based on McDaniel and list of the candidates we had, perhaps the attractiveness was a myth. Job attractiveness is subjective; I’d much rather make a damn good hire.

Saints have one more year of cap hell. Should be a fresh start in 2024. Getting draft pick compensation for Sean is crucial.

This is a good job to have. A better coach would be winning this division by a couple of games at this point.

The Saints need serious work on the offensive line and at quarterback.

It’s even better now because you’ll be compared to DA and not CSP

Brees would have been able to hold people accountable. No one on the roster now is capable and it shows
