A lot of people are commenting on this because Jordan Brand has pretty much never signed anyone that was a superstar (they've got a few that eventually became big stars like Westbrook).

Is the Jordan brand still a subsidiary of nike or is it an independent brand at this point?

Excuse my ignorance as i've been out of the sneaker game for quite a while, but is the "Jordan brand" not a part of Nike anymore?!

a cursory Google search shows that Jordan is... in fact... still a subsidiary of Nike

so the chances Zion pops a tire this season is higher than I would like heading into the season

This seems a bit surprising. Both Melo and CP3 were on the jordan brand very early in their careers.

Very few Jordan shoes have I liked. I really hope the Zion1s look good. I’ll buy them regardless, though

That's just not true though. Kawhi, RW, Melo, CP3, Dwayne Wade, Blake Griffin.

Also signed some non-basketball mega stars.

Many of those guys weren't yet superstars when they signed.

still have my MJ wings framed and hung, when Zion turns into something special, i may have to replace if this is a real pic. ( as long as it fits the frame b/c the dang frame cost over 300.00 )
