Seems like cover-up he has Covid to me, otherwise makes no sense
Guess he’ll be demanding a trade in offseason too

He’s hurt and seeking a second opinion and/or treatment......but keep going with it’s a family emergency. This organization has not told the truth for years, why would they start now?
Let the down votes commence.

You last two posters need to go ahead and put on your dunce hats.

It's amazing that you're still caught up on the fact that Griff sat Zion out for a couple more weeks than expected.

If he was injured, we’d know.

Correct. Zero reporters would keep that a secret.
We knew from a fricking cabbie last time within hours of him being hurt in preseason.

Seriously, what would be the benefit of lying? If it were during the season, at least the team could sell more tickets at the SKC, but I'm really at a loss to come up with any reason for the supposed lying.

“From the team:
New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson, who departed the NBA campus in Orlando last week to attend to an urgent family matter, has been getting tested daily for COVID-19 while away from the team and continues to produce negative results. While there is no current timetable for his return to campus, he fully intends to rejoin the team. Per NBA protocol, his quarantine period will be determined upon his return. Further updates will be provided accordingly.“
The statement pretty much gives you the info. He “intends” on returning to the team but they didn’t say this season did they NOPE.
I think he is out until December/Jan.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or what, but basic reading comprehension can be used on that statement to derive the true info.
If you look in the sentence you bolded and the one after, one can pretty easily infer that they are referring to this season, not frickin December.
From what we've seen, Zion is a down-to-earth humble 19 year old who likes being in New Orleans. There is nothing to say otherwise. And the Pelicans have no incentive to be conniving and trick all of their fans. The concern troll is real on this board...

I know a bunch of people are saying the organization is full of it and they are just trying to cover up an injury, but that is foolish. First of all if he was injured we would know by now, and secondly, I don't believe if they were trying to cover it up, they would use a urgent family medical matter as the excuse. The truth will eventually come out and the amount of heat they would all take for this stupid group conspiracy of using someones family as a cover up would be high as BI on 4/20

This thread is a pretty good microcosm of this board.

Hate to say it, but if the person he left for has not already died, he will not make it back in time.

hope the poor guy doesn't read this board

99.5 did a Pelicans promo for the playoffs. They mention Jrue and Lonzo, no Zion

That's exactly how I interpreted the previous posters comment.

Everyone needs to just chill at this point and let it happen. Its a game.
I don't think he will be back for the first game so we just have to be happy with what we have.

It may be a tough conversation but I’m sure a timeline was discussed. If he’s been testing every day there is still a window of a few days that he can get back and still play in that first game.
