Dwyane Wade straight up had his meniscus removed before even getting to the NBA and he was an MVP and 3 time champion.

Russell Westbrook has been an MVP and continues to be one of the most explosive players in the league after multiple meniscus repairs/surgeries.

I wonder if Zion has a personal chef and nutritionist? Worried him living with his mom and her cooking could hinder his weight loss plan

Its a figure of speech. Hyperbole.

I'm fine.

It does suck though. And it is worrisome for a 19 year old at his weight and athletic ability to have issues.

You guys have to realize tho that although these elite player tore their meniscus and came back just fine, they aren’t 280 lbs. Zion desperately needs to lose weight ASAP. Put him on a 2 month juice cleanse

Zion will pull a Brees and come back from injury to lead the team to a championship

I'm just saying that meniscus injuries in and of themselves do not prevent players from being elite. Zion will need to lose weight. Everyone knows that.

Some people are having a meltdown as if Zion's career trajectory just got nuked.

Just relax guys and ignore the trolls. Players get hurt, it's not the end of the world. Blake Griffin broke his knee cap in a preseason game vs us and miss his whole rookie season, and so did Ben Simmons with a broken foot. Shoot Joel Embiid miss his first 2 years. We have the training staff to make sure Zion will have a full recovery, now I would be terrified if we had our old training staff lol.

FYI, this was a debridement, meaning they removed the damaged piece.

From what I understand, that is the worst of the two options (repair v removal).

That sucks. That is what Lonzo had for another example.

IMO, Zion will be completely fine in the long term. My biggest worry about all this is that it may take the big boy longer than 8 weeks to get back. He looks like the type of person that can pack the lbs on pretty quick. Being its a knee issue, he will have to be off of it for a majority of the 8 weeks, i would assume? The conditioning aspect of things may take him longer than the knee issue.

I thought that the repair would mean that he would be out longer. I'm almost certain that is the case. The removal, is worse for long term though, because you can't continually remove it without causing long term issues.

And now we have to endure every hot take talking head and idiot online saying "see we told you so"

And them writing his career off completely...."Oh he'll never be a franchise player because he's got a bum wheel"

Like Jordan didn't have the same injury that ended Yao Mings career or left Joel Embid a mess... only in his second season in the league man. One injury can be overcome.

Perfect thing to not bow down to.

Shove this "we're cursed, woe is me" crap. Season starts tomorrow. Focus on that.

Yes that is what I meant.

The removal he is back much quicker, but it can cause problems the rest of his career and has long term consequences.

The repair he might be out most of the season, but has better long term prognosis.
