Peak condition to me is what he was doing in December last year. He was a MVP candidate. Whatever his weight was then and how he was performing is what we need him to be moving forward.

that should be the worst case zion. we need him to be slimmer than that for him to have an elongated career. fat zion is not sustainable.

So his weight had nothing to do with him getting hurt or being able to recover?

Stay in shape year round. Before the season starts, get in spectacular shape.
That would require caring more about your trade than the benefits your trade affords you.
I'm thinking that's going to be a tough get.

Considering it was a hamstring injury I’d say it was more the contempt and disdain he showed for stretching the day after the injury when he and Ingram were laughing at old head CJ for stretching while coach talked.

Zion wasn't really talking about his weight. He's talking about the fact that he hasn't played competitive basketball in so long that the flow of the game is still coming back to him. His weight isn't causing him to shoot 59% on FT attempts this season, compared to 71% last season.
He's saying that he's out of sync.

His inability to maintain his weight while injured was an issue. Hamstring injuries are common. Jamal Murray has a strained hamstring. You guys acting like him playing at MVP level is not enough is silly.

So, two deck chairs? j/k Honestly, he looks in the 280s right now. I don't think he looks 3 bills. I'd say he'd have a lot more fun at 250/260.
He’s definitely closer to 300 than 280. Y’all do realize zion was listed at 285 at Duke right lol? If you think Zion will ever be down to 250-260 you’re out of your god damn mind.

Having said that, this is definitely not the worst he’s looked. He honestly looks a little too jacked more than fat right now. But he definitely needs drop some pounds
Posted on 11/15/23 at 12:59 pm to J_Hingle
Always thought he needed to spend a little less time in the weight room and a little more time on the treadmill. That to say he needs to lose some mass to stay on the court in an 82-game season + playoffs. I don't think he looks in great shape now. Coach K said the way to get Z in shape was to let him play basketball. So hopefully he stays on the court long enough to play himself into shape. But long term he's going to need to overhaul his fitness and nutrition to lean down if he is serious about having a great NBA career. The weight he's at right now will break down his lower body. Problem is I've never seen any sign Z or his camp accepts that he has to drop mass to stay healthy. None.

You think Zion should be playing at 210/220?
You definitely aren’t a math guy
That would be 220/230. And the dude is probably closer to 270/280 as opposed to my original 260/270.

In terms of the eye test, he looks fine in terms of his weight. He just needs to get his conditioning up to expectations and he'll be good to go.
This. I don’t think his weight is as big of a problem (could he stand to lose 15-20 pounds? Sure) as his stamina is a problem right now
I also think some of that has to do with him pretty obviously being sick the last few games

I get it. It's a constant debate. I think he needs to be sub 250
Nah I think 260-270 is the optimal range for him. His body type thrives on having that extra muscle because he’s so stocky. Comparing it to MJ who had a completely different body type makes no sense. It’s not just about height

He was not fat last December. Jfc Chad did you watch or pay attention to anything?

Again, not gonna happen lol. He was listed at 285 at duke. He was probably 260 coming out of high school lol. Y’all forget he’s 6’6 and has a very THICK lower half…no homo

I would bet you money he’s not above 290 right now…

Can we not just be happy he hasn’t missed a game this year due to injury and been decently productive when hes played? He’ll get better as he plays more games.
I swear Zion is a thick guy, he’ll always be thick. And frankly if he stays healthy and produces I don’t care. Hashe done that in the past?-NO. But so far so good.

So do you think that Duke listed him at 285 and he was lighter?? Lol

Right before March Madness.
