I know he made it worse. I was saying Puh-cahns in my head like a righteous person would, they're pronouncing it Pee-Cans like a slack jawed redneck in Georgia Shortening Pelicans to Pee-Cans is an insult to the state of Louisiana.

Someone should clarify that correct pronunciation of pecans for him. Although, it would be pretty funny to try to convince everyone that our name is supposed to be pronounced "Pelicawnz"

Exactly, no one is shortening their name, but people seem so hell bent on pushing that crap on us.

Just call them the Pelicans you lazy frick. Why MUST you have a nickname? Does he call the Lakers the "Lakes" or the Rockets the "Rocks"? No. Damn I hate lazy wanna be unique sports journalists. Just call them their fricking name Lowe.

During TV Broadcasts and Sports articles writers and broadcasters have to refer to the same team over and over, so they look for other ways to reference them, its the nature of the beast.

You give me any sports team with more than two syllables in their name and they all have a well known shortened nickname.

Krewe is literally the gayest thing I've ever heard

For anyone who preferred the nickname "Krewe", everything they say should be disregarded from here on out

Also after reading that article I kind of like "Flock"

But I will probably always just call them Pelicans, maybe occasionally throw a Pels in there

It's going to be Pels. Joel Meyers started pushing it from day 1 of the rebrand and he's got the voice and soapbox to make it happen.

Stupid article by Lowe. He seems to be very pompous. He is the idiot who started the Pellies crap. And of course, the local idiot, Fletcher jumped on board. Lowe is basically just making fun of us.
