I know he made it worse. I was saying Puh-cahns in my head like a righteous person would, they're pronouncing it Pee-Cans like a slack jawed redneck in Georgia

During TV Broadcasts and Sports articles writers and broadcasters have to refer to the same team over and over, so they look for other ways to reference them, its the nature of the beast.
You give me any sports team with more than two syllables in their name and they all have a well known shortened nickname.
