Per the Stepien rule, you can’t send out two consecutive picks and the way Griff structured the deal ties up the Lakers’ picks for 7 years while giving us some leeway on when the picks conveys

I would love to see 30 for 30 of exactly how these negotiations went down.

As of now, there isn’t a first they can send.

The trade is occurring after the 2019 draft. I think technically they could make the 24 pick just an unprotected pick with no deferment, make the 25 an unprotected pick swap, and make the 26 an unprotected pick.

I hope they have a camera on Griff the whole time he laughs at the phone ringing.

I’m picturing the negotiations between Rachel Phelps and Roger Dorn for Dorn’s purchase of the Cleveland Indians in Major League 2, which basically amounted to him crawling on the ground throwing higher and higher numbers at her.

I can almost guarantee you 90% of the lakers fan have no idea that there are picks swaps/deferments and whatever else Griffin slipped in there without them knowing.

I have a cousin in LA who literally said this in response to the whole trade date debacle:

"I mean they already made Pelinka look bad. Not sure what else there is to be gained by not allowing the trade to go through 7/30. People arent going to wanna work with griffin after this."

They are delusional over there

Pretty much.

Griff has a rep as one of the smartest and most well liked GMs in the game.

Pelinka is an a-hole who got his job by being Kobe’s agent and once lied to a blind man to screw his player’s current team for a new one.

Once one are front offices more likely to deal with regardless of any AD deal?

lol this exactly. I feel like every year going forward there will be some pleasant surprise that I wasn't aware of, that will benefit our draft.
