re: Think we get new jerseys?

I was able to find a link referencing the choice of team colors. (Not to prove you wrong...but out of my own curiosity).

Wasn’t the last rebranding/redesign largely headed up by Rita?
If I remember correctly, I think the current color scheme was chosen by Gayle.
I would like to see a switch from the dark navy to the lighter City edition blue along with some tweaks to the side panels and trim. The current logo set is great, but our navy and white uniform sets are dull to say the least.
I would also like to see them lean into the local hip-hop culture on a future city edition jersey.
Zion is supposed to have his signature shoe with Jordan Brand released sometime this year. Not sure where they're at with that process, but the dunk contest would be a great platform for him to introduce the inaugural shoe.
re: Pels openly discussing trading Jrue

REPORT: The Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Denver Nuggets are all in a trading war to land Jrue Holiday.
These three teams have players that are VERY familiar with Jrue Holiday and what he's capable of. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have the likes of KD, Steph, Murray, etc. vouching for him.
Keeping my fingers crossed that this is just a really good photoshop. There has been info leaked that the City Edition design will be based off the city flag, so there is some smoke here. But from a design perspective, the blue stripe at the bottom seems to be SO low that when the jersey is tucked in, it might not even be visible. Also, have other teams' city editions jerseys used a totally different collar cut then their normal set?

Excuse my ignorance, but what is it specifically that prevents Ingram from doing so? I feel like this isn't the first time I've seen this quote. Is it simply that he felt it wasn't his place because he was new to the team...or that he felt that was Jrue's role and didn't want to ruffle any feathers?
Heard on NBA Radio this morning that Kenny Smith may be getting a look for the Kings GM position and IF that happens, there's a possibility he brings in Mark Jackson as his head coach.
...I can't think of a more promising position than to be drafting one spot behind this duo.

Jeff Bzdelik Interview on Coaching Outside the Bubble

How to Coach Zion Williamson Remotely
GQ Sports Interview with Bzdelik that gives us a little insight to his current role and level of participation.
Some highlights:
On Zion's request upon learning Bzdelik would not be joining the team in Orlando...
On exactly who IS in charge of the defense (and a nod to Jamelle)...
Perhaps a nod to what we noticed in the last scrimmage with the young guys doing a better job of boxing out and preventing rebounds...

Bzdelik also spends hours on the phone every week with Gentry, associate head coach Chris Finch, and assistant coach Jamelle McMillan, who Bzdelik calls his “right-hand man.” The vast bulk of his exchanges are with Pelicans assistant coach Fred Vinson, who’s spearheading the team’s defense in Bzdelik’s place. “I talk to Fred more than I talk to my wife on a daily basis,” he said.

I remember when we had Nene, we had our end of the year meetings. Someone from the management team says ‘Hey Nene, your defensive rebounding numbers were down.’ And Nene got very upset. I jumped in there real fast before Nene reached across the table,” Bzdelik laughs. “All year long we had great examples of Nene blocking people off, making sure DeMarcus Cousins and Dwight Howard and people like that didn’t grab offensive rebounds

I would love to see 30 for 30 of exactly how these negotiations went down.
re: In other news... uniforms
Posted by deucedwo on 6/13/19 at 8:27 pm to BayouRat15
Not too long ago the official Pelicans twitter account put out a poll asking fans to rank their favorite uniforms from this past year. I believe it was the earned, reds, whites, and navy sets. If I remember correctly, it wasn’t long after Griffin and company were brought in. I’m hoping that it was a gauge/hint that next season we go with the earned as the “home” and the reds as the “aways” as part of a “new identity” and we start to distance ourselves from the blander white & navy originals.
Do our trade offers increase with every Bucks win in these playoffs?
Posted by deucedwo on 5/16/19 at 9:25 am
Let me preface this by saying I understand Giannis's and AD's skill sets are not completely parallel. I also understand that building a team around trying to stop or counter 1 specific player is not ideal.
BUT, I'm also hoping to gain any and all leverage possible should we follow through on trading AD. Does Giannis making it to the NBA Finals and at the very least, having a strong showing increase offers from teams hoping to compete at that level? Having AD on the court opposite the Greek Freak at least gives you an opportunity to slow him down without committing as much help defense, while also being able to match his offensive output.
Does the success of Giannis give us even a LITTLE bit of an edge in these negotiations?

New hypothetical....
AD decides to stay and the Pelicans land the #1 pick. Do you?
A.) Draft Zion
B.) Trade down to #2 and draft Ja
C.) Trade it for All-Star caliber player and filler
D.) Other
ETA: Dumb question is dumb. Forgive me. Still drunk off the Griffin presser.

re: What's the best REALISTIC offseason the Pelicans can have?

Listening to The Starting Lineup this morning on Sirius XM, host Frank Isola, who's covered the Knicks for 20+ years, stated that there would be a "riot in the streets" from Knicks fans if they land Zion Williamson and trade him away for Anthony Davis. This followed a brief discussion about NY landing Kyrie and Durant.
I know it's sports talk radio and they're moving along from topic to topic, but there was no discussion of championship windows or stars wanting to play with other veteran stars (and not rookies). Isola has been down on AD lately, claiming that he's not a "winning player".
Are we still as certain that New York would indeed give up the number 1 pick overall and the opportunity to draft Zion for Anthony Davis?
Key Dates:
May 14th - Draft Lottery
May 30th - Beginning of NBA Finals
June 16th - Latest Possible Date of NBA Finals
June 20th - NBA Draft
July 6th(?) - NBA Free Agency
Both Kyrie and Durant could POSSIBLY be playing until June 16th. The result of which could possibly effect where they intend to sign in July.

The funny thing here is you have generated Pels interest from non Pels fans because of the screw Los Angeles angle. By putting in the team effort you’re talking about, they’re creating fans of the organization, not just the team. Hopefully this really is an inflection point for the team and they start getting their collective shite together to build a winning organization.
I absolutely love this aspect of the situation. My fear is that once this trade deadline passes without a deal, this new found interest from these non-fans will waiver and disappear.
I hope that the organization REALLY leans into this momentum and develops an "Us against the World" identity. There's never been a better time to do this and that mantra is so fitting for this city, especially in the wake of the NFC Championship game situation. If we get the right haul back for AD (young players who actually embrace being here and have a chip on their shoulder), this could be a major turning point for this organization, finally in the right direction.
I just tore my ACL and both meniscus in March playing basketball (age 35).
I had the surgery a month later. I opted for the allograft. My doctor informed me that there was less than a 1% chance of rejection when choosing this option. The advantages are that recovery is quicker and less painful, due to you not needing to rehab both your knee AND your hamstring, where they would have taken the tendon.
I was off of crutches just 2 days after surgery. It is VERY important to do your therapy. I started my therapy 3 days after surgery. My therapy was for 6 weeks (1 hour at 3 days/week for first 3 weeks, then 1 hour at 2 days/week for the final 3 weeks).
Doc said that it would be 4 months before I could "straight line jog" but I was on the treadmill at the therapist after only 2 months.
Tearing your ACL is inconvenient and taking a year off from certain sports while "fully" recovering will suck, but it's by no means the end of the world.
You'll be fine.
