Only reason I mention it here is because people have brought up Otto Porter as a future trade target. Seemed to stem from last nights loss to the Kings.

quote:

Otto Porter was benched down the stretch of Friday's loss to the Kings, scoring five points on 2-of-6 shots with three boards, two assists, one triple and two turnovers.

quote:

John Wall and Bradley Beal pubically called out teammates after Friday's embarrassing loss to the Kings.

quote:

“Sometimes, we have our own agendas on the floor, whether it’s complaining about shots, complaining about playing time, complaining about whatever it may be." Neither player mentioned Otto Porter by name, but coach Scott Brooks did, saying Porter "can’t worry about" his shots.

Yeah what this team desperately needs to add is a bad teammate

Don’t want Porter if that is his mentality

MM had an interesting observation about how Gentry is matching down to small ball and Randle is getting minutes over Niko in crunch time when teams go small. I feel something like Niko/Hill for Porter is a lateral move, I'd rather keep Niko and add an Ariza/Carroll...But if Niko is the odd man out, is a Niko Porter swap less lateral than I'm thinking? You'd think Porter would be part of the finishing five in all situations unlike Niko.

I feel like adding a Carroll or Ariza type and keeping Niko allows us to have more versatile line up options with our 8 man rotation being starters.

it’s 2 games in a row where he’s pulled mirotic for Randle at the end against a smaller team. but against the rox and kings we went big on small and pounded them. My hope is that Gentry is simply sorting thru his hand to see what he has because until it doesn’t work I’d rather the bigger lineup

still it’s going to be a tough decision in FEB and again in JUL as to how to take the last step. It seems unlikely that there will be a way to bring back both those guys and if they feel like they can’t play together with Davis (we haven’t seen it yet) then maybe swapping Niko for a 3 and signing more shooters will be the plan

however, a 2 for 1 trade considering the pels lack of depth seems unwise

There should be no If scenario with Niko. Why even think about trading him for anyone? He is the perfect compliment to AD.

Need to bring Bazemore in for Hill somehow

We have Niko’s bird rights, but not Randle’s. IF, and it’s a big if, you decide to trade one, it should be Randle when you can.

No thanks on Porter. Way too expensive.

We get Porter we aren’t keeping both Niko and Randle.

We also played significantly worse with Hill and Randle going small than with Niko.

Alvin is forgetting that he’s a mediocre coach and he lucked into a destructive lineup with AD and Niko. Now he thinks he can play chess and match lineups and it almost cost us a game.

Up 2 going into the second, Niko barely played we end the half down 9. End the 3rd down 3, Niko barely plays we’re down 7 with 2. Niko comes on bc Gentry’s hand is forced through cramping, and we immediately go on a 9-0 run. fricking Solomon hill over Niko. It’s a sin.

Niko isn’t in the finishing 5 bc Gentry is overthinking it, not bc he can’t be.

I’m not trading Niko or Randle, unless it’s for an all nba type player, and that’s not Porter.
I’d trade one of them, Randle b/c of Needing cap space to resign him, for Beal

Porter is really good but overpaid

He's probably making 30-40% of what he should be imo

We also have another game tonight, it's possible Gentry was thinking about not playing Randle or Niko a whole lot of minutes so that the other one can take a majority of the minutes tonight

So, you are saying he’s underpaid.

Why talk about trading your most impactful player not named AD when this team is currently 4-0? Niko is big time for this team and as others have said pairs extremely well with our top 5 NBA player in Davis, whom we are trying to keep long term amid multiple big time organizations trying to lure him away. I feel like you absolutely cannot move Niko with what’s happening on the court so far this season!

I agree, I said it feels like it'd be a lateral move. This team needs to find a way to add talent, not swap talent.
