Does not sound fun at all in year 1. People think it's gonna be really fun winning 18 games the year after we lose AD?
This could be amazing come year 3, but I don't know how anyone could say "as I paying customer who's going to go to the arena 41 times next year and dedicate my evening to the Pels, I'd rather see a dumpster fire 14-18 win team full of young guys growing up."

It definitely serves Boston. In several ways

It also preps their fans. They can now say, "If he wants his own team...he can go. Who needs him?!"
Posted on 2/11/19 at 4:43 pm to NOSHAU
I can’t imagine they’d try and poison the fans to Tatum unless they were 100% that he would be in a deal this offseason. That’s still up in the air.
Posted on 2/11/19 at 4:45 pm to Crewz
I feel like that fails a cost benefit analysis.
Posted on 2/11/19 at 4:45 pm to Crewz
so do you knw if it's actually true or is it just celts trying to do what you said?

100% of celtics fans would put tatum on the plane today if it meant getting back AD

So you conveniently left of Jrue and DSJ from the second lineup to make the answers sway in your favor?

1) this is not a contest
2) if you take the knicks deal, you trade jrue
3) DSJ is hardly a needle mover

That’s the other thing. You don’t need to prep the fans for this. You’re getting Anthony Davis back.

shite if i was a celtics fan i'd be ranting to sit tatum down now...

I am told Tatum's mom & little brother live in Slidell & that little Tatum goes to Lakeshore and plays on their 8th grade basketball team. Anyone know if this is true?
After further research, his mom is a lawyer practicing in Missouri and his little bro is from another mother, so that would be weird. Little Bro plays for his dad in STL.

Yeah! They’ve been saying AD was the missing piece to their title for years. As cocky as those fans are, I’m sure they’re saying who needs Tatum when you can add AD to Kyrie.
Posted on 2/11/19 at 5:07 pm to cgrand
Between those two potwntial offers, Zion is the ultimate prize. Tatum would be second, Brown probably third.
I think as a small market team, we need to swing for the fences and do a rebuild right this time. So im not interested in trying to be a playoff team again next year. We need atleast two drafts of high draft picks to build this team the right way, hopefully around Zion.

Boston already has a problem. Their team looks broken and disjointed right now, and it’s pretty obvious. They may very well be getting out ahead of this so they can sell Kyrie and AD that the guys shipped out didn’t want to be here. I don’t think they can bring everyone back with no AD and get Kyrie to re-sign. It’s a mess right now.
Go check out some postgame interview clips from the Celtics/Clipper games. There are guys saying the team isn’t having fun, they aren’t playing for each other, gonna be a long season etc. Tatum and/or Brown may very well be the fall guys if theyre likely on the way out.
ETA: I’ll add one more and this is why I don’t think the Boston rumors are bullshite. If Ainge doesn’t make a move this offseason, it potentially blows up his rebuild again. You lose Kyrie. You miss out on AD. Your 3 best talents are a guy still working his way back from injury and two guys who you already sat down and talked about “the business side of the NBA” with.

There are still Celtics fans who think they won't have to give up Tatum (or don't want to).

Scenario 1:
Trade AD to BOS for Tatum, Smart, Yabusele and R. Williams, the MEM 1st and one of SAC, BOS, or LAC 2019 1st.
Caveat 1) Does BOS really agree to send out Smart, their 'heart and soul of the team' player, for their new championship-level team?
2) Will it be necessary to include either Horford or Hayward (and probably Hill going out)?
Celtics new line-up, minus likely FA signings.
(*=current FA)
Horford/ *Baynes/ *Theis
AD / *Morris
Hayward/ Ojeleye
Brown/ FA
Kyrie/ *Rozier
For Pels, Tatum becomes the new face of the franchise, a high-level young star, Smart brings that grit and high IQ and will create a defensive Cerberus of Smart/Jrue/Tatum, with Keinrich, Jah and Frank likely in the mix. Keep Moore as valuable floor spacer off the bench? Sure.
Offer big contract to WCS, Favors would be good, Dedmon also good as backup plan. Roll with Smart/Jrue/Tatum as core pieces, draft and sign good players who fit well. Re-sign Payton if wanted, Miller and Diallo too.
Realistic Free Agent targets:
Payton, Miller, Diallo, WCS, Favors, Dedmon, Rubio, Rozier, Ross, Collison, Thad Young, Aminu, Satoransky, Lamb, Bullock, Ed Davis, Hood, Mudiay, Lin, R. Lopez, Ellington, Mirotic, Temple,
Cap Maximum: $101,869,000
Luxury Tax Threshold: $123,733,000
WCS / Jah
Keinrich/ *Diallo
Tatum / *Miller
Jrue / Moore / Frank
Smart / *Payton

I want a guy with that attitude. AD could learn from Tatum. Instead AD wants to swing from LeBron’s nuts.
I'm going to get down voted into oblivion for this...
But this was the way Davis talked for many years here. He said "I want to be here" all the time. But we never became a winner and eventually gave up on us. With that said, AD handled this whole ordeal terribly.

Give me R Lopez, or someone else like Joakim Noah..
That intensity on D combined with Jrue and Kenrich's, then throw in a guy like Smart, and we could be a great defensive team with great offensive potential...
I would bring Randle back as our true 6th man, let him keep that intensity going with the backups (even if it isnt on d)
