Yes he did not put in full effort against the Rockets and we didn’t try to fight for rebounds. That was part of the game plan..
This is such an insane take that im sorry you truly believe this.

You are sorry that I truly believe that we didn’t risk guys banging in the paint or getting beat up for preseason rebounds?
Im sorry you have to be sorry for that

It's the fricking preseason. I don't give a frick if Zion and b.i. are giving 100%
This is also a conditioned take over the harm of the last 4 years.
I challenge you to watch other NBA games and see how their players are playing RIGHT NOW.

Just started listening to some podcasts and whatnot of people reacting to last night's game.
Damn. It really was that bad huh? Lot of depressed people about it

- is this what fans think now??? Part of the game plan is half-assing it and not fight for rebounds. We’re suppose to believe this is normal???!! Tell me I’m not the only one who thinks this is asinine.

There is plenty of continuity on this team for his take to be in the realm of plausibility

This dude doesn’t watch NBA games outside of the pelicans. You can clearly see that from his ridiculous takes lol

Low effort outing tends to do that.

It wasn’t bad. Certain people just expect our starters to play full effort 30 min games in preseason and get the non existent “preseason champs title”
All while not having any concern for preseason injuries because they’d rather watch them play great now than in 2 weeks.

No getting on a treadmill is not the same as playing in an NBA game against NBA players.
According to you the “plan” wasn’t to actually play, it was to just run around and get conditioning in.

Literally no one is saying this...

The fact you think preseason injuries are such a concern that they take priority over chemistry, playing with effort, learning plays and setting a winning culture clearly means you have pelicans PTSD.

What do you believe is the purpose of preseason games?
If they are meaningless and have no value, then why play them? Even better, why are they charging people to watch?

Bro. Sample size. I'm not going to let one game, especially a preseason game, tell me what I need to know about Brandon ingram and Zion.
I challenge you to watch literally any game with Zion on the court last year. Relax.

Preseason games are just extended 5 on 5 practice. Teams work on different sets, some use it to get in shape, some for tryouts, but there are and definitely have been some preseason teams that hot dog a game because they practiced heavy the day before.
Again, we're reading into 30 minutes of basketball way too much.

To be fair Zion hasn’t even played enough to have an actual NBA sample size. Thats a sad fact.

For ZION yes. Not get hurt and pass the ball. And guess what? That’s exactly what he did last game. Almost like they drew it up like that.

It’s not meaningless and it does have value. The value last night was Zion getting good minutes, not getting hurt, spacing the floor, and getting EVERYONE ELSE shots.

Nope he is not in shape at all. His 12pts/ 5reb/ 5ast in 15min the first game was all a fluke.
Are you really arguing that he is in game shape? I'm the biggest Zion fan that there is, but his conditioning has been shite, especially coming off what was supposed to be his best offseason ever.
Of course, his Magic game wasn't a fluke. Out of shape, he is still a top 15 player in the NBA. In shape, he is a top 5.
But his shape has nothing to do with the team not moving the ball or finding him when he is in position to score. That is a failure of the other players and coaching staff. Saying that the game plan was to not make the correct basketball play in order to avoid injuring Zion is simply ludicrous.

The more I am thinking about Willie's quote in the OP the more insane it becomes in my head.
You have an elite talent that is currently healthy.
You've been in TC for a couple of weeks.
You have...no sets for him? None at all?
How in the frick is that possible?????
