I feel like you are looking at this the wrong way. The Pels did not lose against the Spurs/Rockets because the refs completely swallowed the whistle. The refs just called uneven games.

Since Boogie went down (pre/post allstar), we have gone from a +1.5 to a -3.1 FTA differential. And despite a 3.7% jump in USG%, AD's FTA have dropped from 7.8 to 7.4 per game.

Based on the negative FTA differential since allstar break, I think we would do better in a playoff environment where the refs let us play. Since we already haven't been getting the calls, it would theoretically hurt the opponent who has been getting the calls more (i.e. they don't give Ginoboli those BS vet moves whistles)
