Scenario 1: Pelicans make playoffs by 1 game. Have some fun exciting games versus Lakers but ultimately are swept. Zion is an absolute show in these games but we can’t get it done. Gentry is retained. Pelicans pick 17th.

Scenario 2: Pelicans try to make the run in some exciting games down the stretch but fail by 1-2 games. No playoffs. Gentry is fired. Pelicans pick 14th.

If we just come up short but still make it exciting down the stretch and gentry is fired, I can live with that

Gentry fired during this game.
Is that an option.

So 1 game is the difference between Al getting fired and keeping his job? Yeah I don't buy that.

why torture us?

cant there be alternative C where Pels win 15 in a row and take 7th?
play denver and beat them in 6 as Evil Jrue shines, zion dominates, lonzo makes free throws.
lose to clips in 5.
zion gets 55 in the home win.

gentry wins the lottery and buys the knicks.

Scenario 1 and I think it's a very easy choice. Making the playoffs would mean a lot to this team and do a lot for their confidence and experience, especially for Zion.

A new coach coming in and being better than Gentry isnt an automatic guarantee.

I prefer scenario 1 cause playoffs always allows a player and a team to see their areas of improvement, which a regular season does not allow to do.

In addition, even if Gentry is retaineed but he can always be fired during trade deadline or whatever if his team’s results are bad next season.

And there's no big différences btw pick 14 and pick 17, especially that the draft 2020 is considered weak.

I don’t understand this at all.

2 buts it’s close. The pick position isn’t a big difference but going another year with Gentry at the helm is too much for me and really just feels like another wasted year of team growth

in.playoffs you see best on.best. typically no rest days.
best defense they can muster..giving it their all.
every loss matters.
so you see who has got the goods.

If Lakers sweep, I wouldn’t expect Gentry to be retained....

So 1b, if we have to get swept at least play in the Playoffs and still fire Gentry.

I’d love to watch the Zion show in absolute form, regardless of Gentry-fication of this team.

Some teams make the regular season just to prepare the playoffs. Among the 82 regular season games, there are over 15 that some teams do not take seriously.

The defenses are much more worked in PO, much more of taken in 2. the public makes much more noise in PO etc
