I'm sorry, but we should have never given away our picks for Holiday, that may have been Dell's worst move as our GM. Unless of course his follow-up moves fell through. But I'd give Holiday back and take our 2 1st rounders right now.

Why? Noel hasn't even touched the court yet and the other 1st rounder is looking to be outside the top 10 and is not a guarantee. The New Orleans Pelicans/Hornets have very rarely had success when picking outside the top 5. The best ones in the last 10 years are JR Smith (who didn't pan out while playing in New Orleans and is a Journeyman), Brandon Bass (who didn't pan out in New Orleans and is a Journeyman), and Darren Collison (who is a Journeyman). I have no faith that Noel and that 1st round pick will ever be better than Holiday.

well i doubt we pick Noel if we knew we were keeping it. At least i hope we wouldn't have.

I still agree.

This team is a playoff team if they would stay healthy, but who wants to be just a playoff team?
Getting rid of Gordon and finding a 3 that can score would go a long ways in making this team much better. Or Gordon producing the way his contract pays him.

They are a playoff team right now if healthy, but the potential is there for more. The team's top 6 players average out to about 23 years old. It is proven that in many cases the longer teams play together the better they get as well.

I respect your opinions and input, and I thought it was great at the time too.
What I didn't realize then was that we only had the cap room for 1-2 guys, the fact that we went for another backcourt player and lopsided our roster is what concerns me now.

Decent PGs might be easier to find, but you need one that can really excel around AD. I still think Jrue is going to be an amazing fit once we get a real coach.

Most of the "top" PGs still have holes in their games. Jrue can really do everything average or better with room to grow.

If anything, the Evans move would be the straw that broke the camels back if you are worried about cap space.

Out of curiosity, would you rather for argument's sake:

A) Get rid of our coach and keep this roster intact for another year.

OR

B) Blow up the roster again and keep the coach in tact for another year.

Who do we hope we pick if we still have #6 overall?

Keep in mind that we're looking at this before the draft, not with regards to production after the draft.

I'd think we get Trey Burke, who has looked good so far this year but missed a ton of time with a broken finger. Rumor was we'd get him.

The other possibility would have been Shabazz Muhammed, who has done nothing to distinguish himself since the moment he got drafted.

A.

We've got the talent to make the playoffs, but I'm not sure we've had the luck or the coaching.

Have a healthy Jrue all year and not have the Roberts/Rivers combo playing 48 minutes at the point.

I think Demps still trades the pick. He doesn't have time for another kid to develop.

I think the pick is Burke in that scenario. Kid's a gamer and a 2 year college player as opposed to one. He also showed that he can show up in big spots in the tourney.

Imagine Brian Roberts playing 30-35 minutes a game with BOTH Burke and Rivers riding pine. My god...

The Evans trade is way more questionable.

The way he's being used now that Jrue is down makes it look that way.

Because he got hurt?

Jrue injury is the biggest problem with this season.

No Jrue injury means no Roberts/Rivers running the point for 48 minutes, which means a better team.

yall are pretty delusional in this thread thinking a healthy pels team would win 49 games...

which is how many it would take at dallas's current percentage

maybe wait a year for the 8th seed to drop off a bit and we can get in with 44?

More than that. We gave up something we needed (starting 5) for something redundant and arguably just as limited, but elite at one thing. Tyreke doesn't really fit well with Jrue, either. It was a questionable move and called such at the time.

No, it isn't really delusional.

He hasn't been hurt that long. He played 34 games and the team was 15-19 in those games. We haven't been that much worst without him..

No doubt the Pelicans could be right around the 8 seed right now and be over .500 with a healthy team. For starters, there is no way they would have lost 8 straight in January.

In this hypothetical world, do all the other teams not have any injuries either?

i think when entirely healthy, the team is like 8-4 or something like that. i can't remember exactly what it is, but it's well above .500. it was against mostly shitty teams, though.

Of course not. Were the only team that has injuries.

And every team makes their free throws too.
