What do you see for Naji Marshall for the rest of the year?

Naji has obviously played well this year. He has played good defense while improving his 3pt shooting, but I think myself and many others still don’t see him in the long term picture, mainly because we probably can’t pay him

Naji’s stats this year:

7.4 Points
3.5 Rebounds
2.0 Assists
44%FG
36%3PT
18.6 MPG

So here’s my question:

What does Naji’s role for the rest of the year on this team look like?

Do we believe that the Pelicans were playing Naji more than necessary in an attempt to possibly inflate his trade value as an add on piece in a deal?

If so, now that rosters are locked in do Naji’s minutes take a significant dive?

Personally, I do believe that while Naji has had a good year some of his play time was absolutely enhanced by his potential value on the trade market, and I do expect his minutes to go down.

To be clear, I love Naji, and if I could see him in a Pelicans uniform for the rest of his career I would, but it’s just not feasible with this roster.

Exactly the same as it's been all year

18-20mpg, in the rotation every night.

He has improved but I much prefer his minutes be distributed to Hawkins, Dyson, Jose, etc.. I think he will continue to play too much for my liking as Willie loves him.

Why?

Willie loves playing him, and has done so for 3 seasons now.

I don't see why I should think that'll change, but sure do hope I'm wrong.

His shooting has fallen off since January as well as his rebounding. When his shot is going, he has value on the floor. Otherwise, he's just too unpredictable and erratic from game to game.

Yep

I mean really it’s just on Willie Green and whether he was actively giving Naji increased minutes at the request of the front office, or if that never happened

We will probably never know for sure but we might be able to tell if his minutes go down

I don’t think we’ll see much of a change in Naji’s role this season. I
Think he’s found his niche on this team.
