They have to move some money before the trade deadline to get out the tax.. Washington wont stay a tax team just to "try" to make the playoffs, and their bill will be even higher next season when Wall is making 15 million more..
Just gotta wait them out, their price on Beal or Porter will come down

quote:It is one of the worst contracts in the NBA given his age and recent rash of injuries. I would not touch that deal.
I dont think Kevin Love's contract is considered a negative asset. 20 and 10 guy who has finals experience and shoots 40 percent from three. Aren't alot of those guys around.

Apparently reports are it caught the attention of the Spurs who are one the best run franchises in the league. So they disagree.

Kevin Love is a terrible defender. Terrible.
His offense, while really good, isn't good enough to offset how terrible he is on defense. he's basically Ryan Anderson, unplayable down the stretch of games.
he should be making about $6-8M less a year for his skill sets.

If we have something worked out sending out Niko, then Love would make sense to bring back as that stretch 4 to replace Niko's shooting.. We may hopefully have something worked out with Washington for Beal, but they want to see how their next couple games go with a tough schedule before they commit to being a seller.. Something like this works according to the trade machine:
Washington recieves: Niko, Moore
Cleveland recieves: Hill, Wes
NOP: Beal, Love
Add whatever picks are necessary, may even be able to get Cleveland to throw us a couple 2nds for taking Love

You think Kevin Love is Ryan Anderson? Im not a huge Klove guy but come on.
Posted on 1/11/19 at 9:49 am to Sharp85
do you watch him play or just see he's a 20/10 guy?
He's obviously a better player on offense, when he wants to be, but if he's just farting around the 3 point line all game, he's just Ryno.
His defense really is terrible. just b/c he rebounds doesn't mean he's a decent defender. he can hold his own down low for the most part, but his perimeter defense is one of the worst in the league, like Ryno. That's all teams do down the stretch of games, find Kevin Love and get him switched onto a guard.

The trend in Phoenix right now seems to be developing Devin Booker with the role of James Harden in mind. They've given the offense to him and he's been developing as a facilitator. The problem comes on the defensive side of the ball guarding the position. If that's their vision, John Wall is a terrible fit for that. OTOH, Melton is theoretically a really good piece to develop next to Booker with his defensive ability.
I've been of the opinion that Boston may end up dealing out Rozier and maybe Brown before the deadline. They need to replace one or two guys with someone that won't be a ballstop. Their ball movement is terrible because they have a bunch of iso scorers that want to dribble 5 seconds off before they pass it IF they pass it. I don't see them bringing back Rozier next year anyway.

This is the price a player pays for playing with Lebron James. Is he a below average defensive player... yes he is. So is Cousins. Lets talk about what he is. Great passer, 40 percent three point shooter, can dump if off to him in the post and run your offense through him. He's still a much better defensive player than Ryan Anderson. Rockets couldnt even use him in rotation vs GS last year and I remember Klove turning in a steller game 7 performance against Warriors. So yes hes flawed but saying hes Ryan Anderson is really not giving him the credit he deserves.

Did Love play down the stretch in that game 7?

quote:Yes, he played solid D(yes, that was a surprise) on Curry right after Kyrie hit the 3, forcing Curry to take a bad 3 point shot.

Pelicans are on the clock. Top 25 all time talent ( i said talent not player so dont freak out) wants to win and I dont blame him. Otto, Bazemore, etc might make this team a little better but lets not kid ourselves to thinking they move us to where we need to be. Beal is number one option. Due to limited assets we might not able to get him. Option number two... a Klove and Hood trade. Basically you can tell Ad every minute your on the floor you will be playing next to great floor spacers like Love and Niko and should open the floor for you to work.

If you trade for Love, Niko is going out. Because you aren't signing Niko for 18 mil per year, just so you can pay two guys nearly 50 mil per year just to split one spot.

Yep. Love played awesome in the Game 7.
This thread has been cracking me up. Tristan Thompson is “basically” Randle.
Love = Ryno
Let’s just look some raw numbers and hop the trade machine.

Crewz, if the Beal thing is just smoke and your one week away from deadline what do you think pels will do? I like the idea of trading for a wing but I don't think it moves the needle much. Not enough to sell a talent like Davis. Part of me thinks Klove might be only chance to ever get another borderline all star.

You can see he came in the game with 3:40 left.
You see that no one scored until Kyrie hit a 3 with 53 seconds left. There was a timeout before that play and Jefferson came in for Thompson, for offense.
Warriors didnt' call timeout after that play, and had they, Love would have came out for Thompson, but they probably didn't call timeout so Love would be on the floor.
10 seconds left with Lebron shooting free throws, they took Love out so THompson could play defense.
That was the norm, Thompson in for defense, Love in for offense.
Obviously Kevin Love is a better player than Ryan Anderson. Y'all should know I like to exaggerate my point at times. All i'm saying is it's stupid to pay another big that much money to play with AD when we are so shorthanded in the backcourt with talent. Talent cost money when you never make a draft pick.

If I am the pels I much rather go into that room this summer when looking Ad and his representation in the eyes and say we think we have built you a big three. You, Jrue and Kevin all have valuable playoff experience, all compliment one another well, and all are in the prime of your careers. Sounds better than we brought in Terrance Ross or Bazemore or whoever.
