He went about it as well as anybody ever could have. Busted his arse until the season ended/didnt quit on the team. He's at the age where he wants to be competing for a title now, not building for something 2-3 years down the road. Also, the Pels might not have given him the contract he wanted anyway.

Milwaukee is a larger market than New Orleans by about 200,000 people.

I mean NO is a really really small place compared to just about every city in the league. It's gonna be almost impossible to win a chip here. Most we can hope for is to be competitive. FAs worth a damn can't wait to leave or don't wanna come here on their own, we gotta trade for them...look at the last two stars. The only way the Pels can actually win is through the draft and history has shown you how staggeringly difficult that is in a small market as there is no room for error...none. Even more so in today's NBA or buddy ball.

This is all wrong. Toronto and SA won Championships through smart construction and solid structure. Milwaukee is on the cusp. There are tons of other small market teams with a chance. Just need to do it the right way and get lucky..

This is a big reason why I would pursue moving up in this draft if reasonably possible. You get a player at a reasonable salary and can conservatively lock him up for about 7 yrs.

Toronto won because two of the best 3 players on the Warriors were out. You can't compare them to San Antonio. Otherwise they're just the Heat from last year. Solid team that made their own breaks in the playoffs.

I mean it's ultimately no more difficult to win here than in SA, Memphis, OKC, Denver, and frankly all but like 5-8 teams in the league.
The only teams that have a market advantage are those that are actively desirable on their own, or desirable enoguh to not want to leave to greener pastures. And as Chicago has demonstrated, even that isnt always enough.
The key for NOLA is to build a winning organization and consistent contender. Thats really it.
