I guess it's somewhat subjective, but he doesn't look in great shape to me either.
He plays differently when he feels like he's in good shape: more bounce; more effort on defense and on the boards.

I don't think he's fat like he's been at certain times. But he didn't lean up much, if at all, in the offseason either. And that's consistent with what I've heard from people in the organization. He just doesn't believe/accept that he should play lighter than 285 +/-, carry less mass on his frame.

I think unless he starts to play closer to 250-260--even if that means losing some muscle mass--he'll never make it through a full season, much less the post-season. I think there is ample data already that his legs and lower joints can't take the stress for that long, especially the way he plays.

He came into last year in way better shape and then played himself into even better shape. He looks like he's starting off this year in much worse shape. Our only hope is that he doesn't suffer an injury and he just plays himself into good shape

It took him 10 games last year. And he's not as in good shape this year. Idk sons. It don't look great.

I don't think he's in as bad of shape as this thread is making it out to be, but he's not 100% and his game is rusty. That's part of the reason I was frustrated with the team sitting him out after four games. Playing basketball is what's going to help him in both of those areas, not resting.

What??

Have you ever seen a NFL lineman?

They are fat, but they are some of the best conditioned dudes on the field.

Doesn't this run counter to your assertion then? Sounds like being in shape would then be LESS about physical appearance.

Not at all, I said being in shape is more than your physical appearance.

I just noticed I missed a word though

So then how does it have to do with physical appearance?? It seems if a guy is fat, he will look fat. So if OL who are fat are actually in shape wouldn’t that mean it doesn’t have to do with physical appearance??

Missed your second response. Now I know what you meant and I agree with that.

I’ve totally agree with this and have for a while. It’s much less about his body-fat% and much more about his total weight. He would be better off at 260 and 12% body fat than 285 and 5%. His lower body just can’t withstand running up and down the court at his current size, no matter how little fat he’s actually carrying.

He's actually very heavy appearing compared to last year.

Less bounce. Even physically looks weaker.

Idk, but it's worrisome.
