He was such an impact player for the last two months of last season and first two months of this one.

His shot has been off recently and effecting his overall game. Not sure what he needs, but hopeful he can settle in.

We need pretty much everyone to shoot better... or simply just shoot.

We took 4 three's in the 4th quarter last night in a game where we were down by double digits.

We have a decent group of shooters. They go from decent to "good" with spacing. Without Zion and CJ, that spacing disappears... So, while I do agree he could shoot better, it's pretty difficult when the other offensive options aren't there.

ETA: Last 2 months last year he had BI and CJ. 1st few months this year, he had BI/CJ/Zion or at least 2/3. He also would be leading a sec9nd team as a spark and plays starter with CJ out, these all add up.

Same reason Trey looked unstoppable first 10 games of season, he goes from good to elite with spacing.

That would be great, but we can't rely on that. He's just not a good shooter.

The issue with this team is we only have 3 guys you can rely on to hit a 3 at a decent clip, and 2 of those guys do not shoot enough of them. So overall, we are lagging wayyyyyyy behind on how many 3s we should shoot per game.

Especially with Zion, he opens so much up we should be letting it fly, and I believe we were still a bottom 3 team on 3pt attempts when Zion was healthy despite being in the top 10 in 3pt %.

Now that Zion is out, we've slipped all the way to 19th in 3pt % and 29th in attempts.

We have three shooters. They are three good shooters (especially when BI shoots 3's), but it's still not enough.

Not everyone can be the Celtics and have like 7 or more guys you can trust to hit a 3 but...

We have only 3 of those guys, of which 1 hardly shoots it. Outside of BI/Trey/CJ, there isn't a single dude on our team you can trust to hit a 3 or when a 3 goes up, you have any reasonable level of confidence that it's going in.

A decent group of shooters? What team are you watching?

Just having one more guy on the bench who does nothing but shoot 3's would make this team a lot more palatable.

needs a good talking to.

i watched some last night.
he fired one up from a few feet behind the line at an angle. im pretty sure that shot was never practiced from that spot. it went off iron.

unless its 1.2 seconds left on clock you dont let alvorado shoot like that unless his feet re set and hes taking a familiar distance shot.

he valued being clear of defender more than it being a good shot.

If you look at my post, I mentioned 3 levels of shooting...
Decent
Good
Elite

We have at minimum decent shooters: CJ/BI/Jonas/Trey/Jose/even Larry
Honorable mention: Kira (40% 3), Dyson

Bottom line, decent shooters need spacing and anytime 2 of the 3 offensive options are out, everyone's shots will struggle...

So what you're saying is that we're in the bottom tier of shooting, but you dress it up by calling it decent.

This is the stat I've been looking for! Thanks for sharing. The spacing Zion creates makes our team completely different. I'd even argue BI + CJ as well. WE NEED SHOOTING, I don't disagree at all, but the original post said Jose needed to shoot better, that he has fallen off, but the moral of the story is this Stat line, EVERYONE is struggling with shooting because of the myriad of injuries to the offensive stars on this team.

This team has to many defensive minded guys, and not enough balanced out players.

I'd like to see him drive more. Yeah he's small, but he is so quick and has great touch around the basket. Over the last 10 games he's shooting about 34% from 3 so not terrible, but not good either.

I guess I always try and ask myself, if X player were on another team, would I want to bring him in to fill the current role he's playing for us?

And increasingly with Jose my answer is kinda...no

Would I like him as a 3rd point guard? Absolutely. And that feels about where he should be. Basically Kira's recent role. A change of pace, can get hot and go off occasionally, but you don't feel obligated to give him 20 minutes every game and run the bench.

I think in our primary facilitator off the bench we need a Dyson or more ideally, a Brogdon/Bogdan/Mathurin type. A person that better compliments CJ, has better size, can hit threes and get his shot, and run some PnR. someone you arent automatically creating imbalances in the finishing line up.

OK...I'll just go ahead & say it. I just can't see Jose being part of the Pels' long term plans.

And why is that? Jose isn't some all-star but he's a good bench option on a dirt cheap contract

We need some guys like that. Every good team has guys like that to balance out their star salaries.

He's a good end of bench guy to have for the vibes, energy and because he can be an agitator that gets under other team's skins which could be beneficial for a postseason series. But I think once Dyson develops any semblance of consistent finishing at the rim, he takes Jose's minutes.

I agree that dyson will play over him in a year or 2...But the team will look different at that point, and some of our depth will not be on the team anymore. I hate it, but that's just what's most likely since we have multiple bench guys who are 8 - 12 million AAV guys on the open market.
