How is Uncle Al going to get another chance to be a head coach in this league?

NBA is really weird with retread coaches. Meanwhile Wes Unseld Jr has a winning record in his first year after 15 years as an assistant.

This news made me remember that Mike D’Antoni works for us. Has anyone read anything about what he’s doing? I think he was around the team during summer league and training camp, but I don’t think I’ve heard anything about him since.

He's consulting with Willie on our offense, don't ya know? It's why we have the top offense in the league. Seriously, there have been several times recently when I thought about making a dedicated thread about it. Of all our offseason acquisitions, has any of them been more disappointing than D'Antoni?

Offense is down across the league, and we have almost 30 points a night sitting on the bench

Sources: Alvin Gentry will become the Kings’ interim coach. Gentry is already under contract through 2022-2023, gets a raise to take interim job and agreement on some benchmarks of success rest of this season with team to try and keep job longer.

I guess we can kiss any possible trades with Sacramento goodbye.

Good for him. I always liked Gentry. I don't expect much from NBA coaches though. Talent carries teams most of the time. He is very respected around the league. I always thought they should have elevated him. Kings are bad though. Lots of stat stuffers and no winners..

I think it would be hilarious as hell if the Kings beat us in New Orleans.

We'll have to wait until March to face the Kings again, in the SKC. My guess is that Gentry will have been fired by then.

Kick out Malone and Joerger was a terrible mistake for the kings.

On the one hand this potentially gives the Pels a competitor for a Griff replacement if the Kings get rid of management too. On the other hand would we want to hire anyone the Kings would be considering? Probably not. Knowing the Kings they might hire Griff and keep Gentry

What's your basis for that statement?

It's not really fair to blame any issues on a consultant who's not a full time coach. Any issues with our offense are on Griff for having the worst guard depth in the NBA

Pels were dumb to get Monty Williams. He’s done a great job with Phoenix.

I'll second this. Club should have dumped Demps. He mortgaged the teams future by throwing away draft pick after draft pick for virtually nothing in return.

Local sports reporters have hinted that Davis and his pops are to blame for Monty's firing.
