He’s definitely in a funk right now. But he’s a shooter and he needs to keep shooting.

I think what disappointed me even more was his effort on defense. I thought he took a step forward on that end agsinst the rockets and then was a turnstile today against the Heat players. I’m ok hes in a funk but he needs to find ways to impact the game in other ways.

For this team reach it's full potential it always centered around Trey for me. He's the puzzle piece that makes everything fit I just hope he can snap out of this funk. But tonight really concerned me with so many people out we needed him to be aggressive and hunt for shots but he just with into a shell.

You can get 2 blocks and 2 steals a game and still play lazy fricking defense..

Murphys wingspan is that of a Terradactyl. He doesn’t need to do much physically to give you 16 blocks/Steals over 4 combined games.

Again, it’s not about the hard statistics. It’s about the frickin effort on defense while also clamming up on offense and refusing to shoot. Idc if you’re 0-13.. if you’re Trey Murphy and you’re playing in an NBA basketball game then shoot the ball.

If you’re not gonna shoot the ball then one would hope some defense is played.

I’m done arguing let’s see what he does on Sunday.

He needs to snap out of it quickly. He has been in an offensive slump for pretty much the last 2 months. He has become almost unplayable at times.

He was too aggressive in the first quarter, shooting every look he got. Shooters shoot, I get it, but when you are missing shot after shot and they are bad misses, you have to look at letting getting the ball to other scorers and let the game come to you. It’s not like he’s been scorching the nets recently. Jordan Hawkins has a great shot and he is going to be a great shooting guard, but his shot selection is really bad at times. When you’ve predetermined to shoot coming off a curl or screen you are going to get jumpers blocked, shoot a lower percentage, and it leads to run outs. Like I said, love the guy but not every shot by a good shooter is a good shot.

I don’t know you ask any shooter a good shot is an open shot. I thought the majority of shots they both took were open. Trey has been missing them for over a month and Hawkins just got back in the rotation. Once these two start hitting these same shots like they were early in the season- changes our whole team. This is again why it made no sense to give DNPs to Hawkins. Hes so valuable and for third time this season Hawkins has to adjust to new minutes in the rotation.

I feel like Trey is trying to prove to be a different player than what he is. Almost like somebody told him he needs to do more than what he can do/should do. He’s not letting the game come to him, and then he starts to press, which generally goes horribly, leading to his confidence being shot and completely disappearing from the game.

I think the contract talk and the hype got to his head a little bit. Hopefully he settles down and gets consistent. If not, see ya next season and hopefully you figure it out over the summer.

I can assure you that good shooters who shoot a good percentage don’t just shoot everything, unless they in a grove. The data is clear how much shooting percentages drop just by having a hand up in a guys face and contesting shots. He’s getting way too many three pointers blocked right now. It’s just his rookie year. He’ll get better adjusting to NBA game.

Yes thats why I wrote most of the shots they took were open but not all. By the way some the shots he potentially got blocked he actually got cleary fouled on. I think two of them were clear fouls. I think the shots hes taking are fine and eventually those shots he has “supposedly” blocked will turn into fouls. Its honestly happened recently, defenders are crowding him more and lot of times they’re just hacking him. The officiating tonight was horrendous and a main reason why the fight broke out.

Yeah so like.....it doesn't matter. He still should be out there late, especially as shorthanded as we were.

Willie isn't doing shite to help him out of this rut. JRE isn't the future or half the player Trey has shown to be. Trey could've been out there, regrouped and knocked down two 3s late (like he did in a close game a few weeks ago, can't remember which one) to give us a dub, or he fails but at least knows Willie trust to play him late in crunch time situations.

Just bad coaching decision by Willie. Awful really. If we're going to go further than the 1st round in the playoffs, Trey Murphy has got to get right. Willie helped Trey take a step back with that last night.

TM3 will be fine, Pels should run BI, Zion, Herb, and Trey together a lot down the stretch.

Hopefully he will wake up. I just don’t understand why he seems to constantly shoot 3 feet behind the line when no defender is in front of him. Maybe take a step or two and shoot a normal 3-pointer.

This probably isn't supported by the numbers, but I feel like he has a better % from the deep 3's than he does the regular 3's.

It does seem that way. Probably because he gets more open looks from 3-4 feet behind the line.
