While I really don't think looking into stats from this year does much of anything, I found a rather interesting stat today after thinking about why we aren't winning games when Trey goes off like he did last night. Not only are we not winning, but we're losing by double digits still. Just seems odd.

Here's our record when we've got one of our main guys scoring 26+.
Trey 1-8 (4 double digit losses) 1 of the 9 games resulted in a positive +/- and 2 were 0
Zion 1-5 (2 blowouts and two 9 point losses) 4 of the 6 were negative +/-
Murray 2-5 (2 double digit losses) 4 of the 7 were positive +/-
CJ 4-7 (4 double digit losses) 6 of the 11 were negative +/- or 0
BI 4-4 (3 double digit losses) 5 of the 8 were negative +/- or 0

Trey had 35, Zion had 29, Murray had 27, and we lost to Dallas by 1
Trey had 41 last night, CJ had 35, and we lost by 12
Trey had 35, CJ had 32, and we lost by 8 to Memphis
Trey had 30, Murray had 26 and we lost by 1 to Boston

The one game we won where multiple people had good games was when CJ had 45, Murray had 26 and Trey had 24 against a depleted Jazz team at home, and we only won by 4, in OT.

It's just astonishing to me how we can have guys have these great games, and we still aren't winning, and most of the time we're still getting killed. I mean Trey went off last night, and CJ chips in 35, and we were never really in the game.

Last year using same criteria of 26+ points:
CJ 13-2
Zion 19-10
BI 11-7

Trey 8-0 with an average margin of victory of 20 points

and no i'm not bashing Trey in any way, even though i put this long arse post in a thread about Trey, it just has me scratching my head how we aren't even competitive in games when Trey's going off, but you can say the same for everyone else as well.
Obligatory Fire Willie.

This year is weird. We've been so short-handed all year that guy's going off is our only shot at victory, but there has never been a point where I felt like we have run any offense consistently. It's just iso to keep the ship afloat, which leads to scoring bursts, but also to losses.

Trey Murphy has more 40 point games this season than:

KD
Tatum
Lillard
Jaylen Brown
Trae Young
Steph
Lebron
Donovan Mitchell

It’s simple. We have 70+ million in cap space sitting on the bench between DM, BI and Herb. That’s almost half the salary cap.

Murray/CJ/BI/Trey/Zion are top 100 players in the league, capable of being in the all star discussion.
We’ve played plenty of games with 3 all star level players and we still aren’t competitive.

But we’ve never had them all together, at all points in the season we’ve had 50-70 million dollars sitting on the bench.

I mean we all knew this.

Almost everyone on the board wanted bi gone and trey starting.

Now they have to build off of that. It is never going to matter if zion doesn't add to his arsenal in the off-season.

And yet Griff is always the last to know these things and gets the absolute lowest value when he finally figures it out for himself…..

He’s way too afraid of making a mistake.

You’re never gonna win as a small market by playing it safe and afraid.

It’s why I always respected Dell Demps. Yeah it didn’t work out but that dude was aggressive and never afraid. Trading for Jrue, trading for Boogie, and he had a quarter of the assets to work with that Griff did.

If you gave Dell Demps the assets that Griff was gifted we’d be in a much better place. Griff pissed away a war chest in impressive fashion
