That trade with Burks only brought in $500k more. Might be able to handle that by dropping Liggins.

Valentine was the 14th pick, playing in his 2nd year, shooting 40% from 3. trading a first for 2 more years of him is more than fair.

Grant was the 19th pick, playing in his 3rd season. He's 4th in the league in A/TO margin playing only 20 miinutes a game. he's a 6'4" PG that can play defense. You get 1 more year of him. He's almost worth a 1st round pick.

You get 1 more year of Rolo, who's been playing great, instead of paying Asik/Ajinca to sit on the bench.

Tell me again why this is so terrible of a deal?
We could only hope to get a Valentine or Grant with our first round pick. That's not how we draft, we draft JuJu.
You do all of that and keep Diallo and Jackson (hopefully they can contribute someway), and you actually have some young talent for a change.
You do that trade and you've got 10 guys on the roster minus Cousins. No telling what he's going to sign for, but you likely have enough for 2 minimums and stay under the tax bringing the roster to 13 with Cousins, and you actually have guys that can play instead of deadbeats like Asik/Ajinca/Diallo/hurt Solo/hurt Allen/hurt Jackson.
Don't care where they were picked, they are marginal players. Valentine is a decent defender with bad knees and not much else. Grant has speed, but another terrible shooter. Not worth giving up 2 1st rounders to add marginal players and dump salary. Next year, Asik will not be as difficult to trade (especially with the grandfathered benefit of the partially guaranteed year).

I love all the people thinking Asik will be an “easy dump” next year.

Wait half the year and he’s only owed $5.6 + $3 million. Sending $5 million cash and a 2nd should be sufficient value. Depending on the other deals you make that might be enough to keep you out of the tax.

I'm talking about the tax for next year. I just dont think Burks is that good.
I'd rather jerebko or udoh from Utah.

Vucevic for Asik and a pick. Our first rounder and Second rounder has value since the Boogie injury.

Let's get this Brooklyn deal done. It gives us the depth we need and allows us to play the way we need to around AD and Jrue with shooting and D.

Another MM trade from the Twitters:

quote:

Clarkson and Nance to the Pels

Asik and Ajinca, Pels first, Lakers second, and Lakers cash to the Bulls

Tony Allen, Jameer, and QPon to the Lakers

Then, Pels sign Frye or Monroe and keep Liggins

Absolutely do not want Clarkson and his contract.

I think these are simply suggestions from MM and nothing with any legs.

I think Clarkson could really hit a stride here in New Orleans. It’s an intriguing proposal but his contract is tough

My dream scenario now that Boogie is out, is Dedmon and Justin Holiday.

Second most desired is a 3-way to help facilitate Mirotic to Portland. And we find a way to get any 2 of 3: Holiday, Napier, Robin Lopez.

I really like Larry Nance. Not a big contract. Averages 9 points. If he gets surrounded by the right people it could go up.

Why would Sac destroy their cap for a pick in the teens?

Players making $10 million or more a year like Faried complicates the tax situation next year. Anyone that you have to trade a package including Asik/Ajinca/1st to get you need to ask yourself

1) is this player worth going into the tax for next year
2) Is this player worth dumping Moore for next year

Because one of those 2 things would be the likely outcome. That's why this thread is about cheap depth, because that's what the Pels need.

Any other players that we don't own the rights to that we can throw in here?

Jeff Withey?

Langston Galloway?

Omri Casspi?

QPon is on the Bulls. They have the rights to trade him.

This right here, should be stickied on this board. I've been sayign it, you've been saying it, yet we still have a ton of retarded traded ideas out there.

As of right now Asik is like an expiring contract for us. We can stretch him and it saves us $8M. we can trade him straight up for an $11m expiring as well, and that saves us a grand total of $3M if we hadn't traded him. so there's really no point in trading him unless he brings in a really good player b/c taking on his salary next year means we will be in the tax.

If we somehow trade Asik and Ajinca, and we didnt' take back something like $10M in expirings back, then Moore is getting moved in the offseason, or we will be a tax team, and we are not going to become a tax team unless we think we have a top 4 team if not better team. Only 1 of those guys can go right now, and it needs to be Ajinca.

The life of not having assets.

Hill has no value at the moment (or negative)
Asik and Ajinca has negative value
Moore has some positive value

Not even trying to play young players mean we have no cheap, young value. Or not even obtaining young players to even try to play. Woeful.

How does it feel when you try to be smart and go after the King and then miss so badly? What do you do next: Do you delete your post? Do you try to pretend like you meant something else? Do you just hide and hope nobody notices?

Fascinated to see your next move.
