I'm assuming this Cousins injury practically guarantees the No Tax mandate stays in place for next year. That means you need to trade for cheap depth. Players like Robin Lopez, Zach Randolph and Mirotic are not the kind of players to trade for because they make too much money next year. DeMarre Carroll is listed in a trade below but only because that deal brings back a 1st you can use to change him into something cheaper.

Trade Proposal 1, Brooklyn

Nets - Asik/Ajinca/2018 1st lotto protected/2020 1st lotto protected
Pels - Dinwiddie/Zeller/Carroll/Toronto 1st

If Brooklyn would do this trade it fits because Carroll helps this year, Dinwiddie and Zeller give you a rotation guard and center making under $2 million each through next year giving you some cheap depth to help stay afloat and out of the tax next year. The tax implications make Carroll hard to keep around next year, but package him with the Toronto 1st and maybe you can turn him into a cheaper player that would still be useful.

Trade Proposal 2, being the 3rd team in a George Hill Trade

Cavs - George Hill
Kings - Asik/Ajinca/Iman Shumpert/Pels 1st
Pels - Jae Crowder/Willy Cauley-Stein/Skal Labissier

Crowder has 2 more years after this around $7.5 which is great for a solid 3 and D wing. Skal is a rookie with potential and while WCS doesn't look like he'll ever be great, the Pels just need him to be serviceable, which he can be.

I also think it's either time to play Diallo real minutes or trade him to one of the other teams that thought highly of him during the draft before his value declines too much. Phoenix, Atlanta and Indy all had him in for pre draft workouts. Phoenix has a lot of picks this year, so trading Diallo for their 2nd doesn't seem out of line. I'd see if I could talk Atlanta into a Diallo for Bembry swap. Indy doesn't really have anything that fits what we need.

I really like the SAC/CLE trade. Adding two young cheap bigs like WCS and Skal while getting rid of Asik/Ajinca would be amazing.

Dont think they should be looking to trade their 1sts

That Kings deal would be a great one for the Pels. But that one is a pipe dream

Should talk to Atlanta about Ilyasova (Ajinca/Diallo + 2nd) or Nets about Zeller (Diallo + 2nd). Cheap vets who can soak up some minutes and Ilyasova can shoot

I'm not sure it is, we're talking about 2 of the most desperate and dysfunctional teams in the league. Crowder has been bad for the Cavs and I believe Windhorst said he wants out on the latest Lowe Post. He at least said he's not happy. If they include Crowder in the George Hill trade instead of Frye, they could still trade Frye but package him with their pick for a useful player since the Kings are apparently only seeking the Cavs 2nd in this deal.

The Kings are already looking to dump Skal to free up a roster spot, so my pipe dream of a deal basically becomes Asik and a 1st for WCS which isn't that unrealistic. I am hoping you can throw Ajinca in there too, but that might be asking for too much.

Tweet from Woj that confirms Dell plans to go into trade ninja mode to try and salvage this playoff run:

Any trade needs to open up salary space and a roster spot or 2. The best way for us to get cheap big depth is the buyout market. Potential buyouts are:
Monroe
Frye
Bogut
Noel

As I said in the other thread, I think we are the easy favorites for Monroe now. Noel has to be available for cheap too. Would Dallas take Anjiica, Tony Allen, a 2019 & 2020 seconds + $2.5M for Noel?

What do you think the market is for Monroe next year? With as tight as money will be for most teams could he possibly be looking at taxpayer MLE?

if Cleveland is serious about beating Golden State, they will need Jae Crowder giving them something. unless i've missed something, the rumors have been Shumpert and Frye. of course we would want Crowder on the Pels instead of Shumpert

but say the Cavs want this and just dont believe in Crowder, why in the world wouldn't the Cavs figure out some of the salary stuff and take Labissiere themselves? i get the tax $$, but if LeBron is leaving, might be nice to have a young guy on board already as they unload everyone else

i know we're talking the Kings, so anything is possible here, but, i'm sorry, that is quite unrealistic

I’d take Monroe..he can at least score unlike the others listed.

I’d do whatever possible to get Monroe for the rest of the season.

I have no feel for the center market. With the limited league wide space this summer and his inability to space or rim protect, I would think he is a regular MLE or less. How much less would he take to play in NOLA would be the question.

I do think Nerlens would be interesting too. He compromises spacing, but I would think we could seriously crank up the pace & defense with a Jrue-Moore-Solo-AD-Nerlens lineup.

You know I have incredible respect for your efforts with this info. I can't even stomach Pels talk right now.

I like both of those trades, I love the e cle/sac trade. I think we could def make the playoffs this year with it, and would be looking pretty good if Boogie returns next year.

ANother cheap C target for me would be Anjiica for Mike Muscala. Maybe ATL takes a couple future seconds and cash.

I'm telling y'all, Greg Monroe is one of the worst bigs in the league. Phoenix's record without him playing is so much better. You do not want Monroe

I’m telling you he’s better than what we got.

I watch Greg Monroe regularly. He consistently causes PHX, a pretty bad basketball team, to play much, much worse. Kanter scored almost every time he touched the ball last night because Greg Monroe basically might as well have not even been there. You're not going to all of a sudden win a first round matchup with Greg Monroe. Don't give up a first and seconds for him. If you're going to trade for an PHX player, Tyson Chandler, although his contract isn't expiring, is a competent basketball player.

No way Sac dumps all that AND takes salary for one 1st.

CHI - Lopez/Valentine/Grant/2 2nds
Pels - Asik/Ajinca/2018 top 3 protected/2020 top 5 protected
