That’s John Collins….at least for the players we have been linked to. I don’t love it, but if you are preparing to not have Zion or BI for at least 30 games a season then you might as well spend you money on a player that will get you buckets
Collins has forgotten how to shoot 3s. I mean it’s brick city out there for him. I like him but let’s hold off on the stretch part. Also 25m/yr is a lot of money for a bench big. Your better off getting someone like Kelly olynk who gives you 80% of Collins production for half the cost

I'd def take olynyk qnd beasley over og.
I like the idea but I don’t like dealing with Danny Ainge.
I want Mo bamba and Alec Burks. Similar to the guys you listed but we don’t get bent over a barrel by Ainge

Not sure any significant deals are made this deadline. Asking prices seem to be very high after the Gobert debacle. One minor trade that could be interesting could be something like Naji to Denver (rumored to be looking for a defensive wing), Hyland to TWolves (rumored interest) and Reid to Pels. Would depend on if Pels see Reid as a young big who could eventually develop into a bigger role and if he could be re-signed at a reasonable rate. Not sure how I would feel about something like that.

getting Reid and Trent seems doable.

My thing with OG is that what he provides is kinda a strength of ours already. Is he better than herb trey Dyson Naji? Yes right now he is, but it’s not like it’s a weakness of our we need to upgrade. I think we have more glaring issues with rim protection and shooting(OG is a good not great shooter) that our assets would be better spent on. Teams would kill for our talent and depth at wing and we want to spend the large amount of assets it would take to get OG to upgrade that? Doesn’t make sense to me
That’s the point though. You trade for OG so you can move off two of Herb, Trey, Naji or Dyson. That frees up cap space / roster spots for shooters and rim protectors. Because if you want to get shooters and rim protectors you’ll have to either trade them or sit them on the bench anyway. Not enough minutes and too many wings.

The Detroit Pistons are turning down trade interest for Bojan Bogdanovic, sources told Marc Stein of Substack. The Pistons may even reject the unprotected first-round pick they were looking for in order to keep Bogdanovic. Bodganovic has drawn trade interest from several teams around the league. Meanwhile, the team is looking for draft capital in return for Saddiq Bey or Alec Burks, with the Knicks showing interest in Bey.

Please go and get Alec Burks and one of Olynk, Mamba, or Reid. I'd be fine with any of those 3, they all can play defense and shoot the 3.

The problem here is you have to give them both a new contract after the season, and will likely lose one of the two.
I would prefer to look at someone with more than a year left on their deal if you’re getting Reid.
One guy that has me interested simply because we know he has the ability to shoot the frick out of the ball, but is overpaid by about 5 million a year, is Duncan Robinson. You could get him without giving up anything and could maybe get Miami to throw in a Jovic since you’re taking that contract.
He’s been horrible this year, but could be a case of being him in and he gets right then you could get some value for him in a year (like OKC did with CP3)

One question with Reid though is, is he good enough to let you move JV? He’s not going to be a 2nd post scorer drawing doubles like JV, but he can score well enough. He’s also a little lighter on rebounding than I’d like. But he seems like he has the potential to be like a younger Myles Turner with lower acquisition cost.

If we can’t deal with Ainge, the Gary Harris/Mo Bamba combo would be a great combo as well. Alex Burks is older but can shoot and play solid D as well.
The question on most of these scenarios is if they can be done for a reasonable cost in draft capital and salary matching. They are steps forward, but aren’t mortgage the future level improvements for stars, so the Pels have to find a willing trade partner.

Yeah I'd rather go after Mo Bamba, provides rim protection rebounding and 3 pt shooting. This let's us get rid of JV if needed

Bamba has a super interesting size/skill set…the biggest issue I have with that combo is it still leaves a hole at the 4 behind Zion and will likely force the Pels to keep playing small unless another roster move is made to shore up that hole.

That would be fantastic. Naji for reid. Graham, jax + lottery-protected pick for Trent

How does that free up cap space when OG will command +30m/yr after next year and most of the guys you listed are cost controlled for a while?

I've been thinking about this. You would need to get a 1st or Jovic back for taking on that contract but it seems like a win-win move. Graham + Kira make the same money next year as duncan so he's not really affecting your cap next year. If he turns it around then you have a great shooter locked up for a while and a 1st or Jovic. If it doesnt work out you just spend a 1st to dump him and you're in the same spot from an asset standpoint(since you got paid a 1st or Jovic to take him)

I love that, but what are we doing with Billy….he would have even less of a role with that trade. I’d rather keep Naji, and see if Minny would take Billy and a couple Seconds

i mean yeah that would be better but i doubt they do it. Billy can be flipped to boston or someone for a 2nd

Reid is going to get paid enough next season that you won't keep all 3 of JV/Larry/Reid. If you trade for him I have to think it's with the plan of him replacing JV, even if you wait for the offseason to make sure he can fill that role. If you move JV then keeping Billy makes more sense because he can give you post scoring on nights you need that. Not to mention he's surprisingly able to punch above his weight class with guys like Embiid and Jokic.
