A big reason for that is he does not get to the free-throw line at a high rate ... For the second season in a row, Carr attempted just 4.8 free throw attempts per game,

sounds like he'll fit right in

He can shoot (goofy mechanics but can get it off quick in contested situations), but this is pretty rough:

quote:

Carr finished tied for last among all participants in the vertical jump (25 inches), while finishing tied for fourth-to-last place among all players in the max vertical with a score of just 31.5 inches. He also recorded the second slowest score among guards and fourth worst overall in the shuttle run (3.39 secs), only beating out Miami’s Bruce Brown for guards. In comparison, first-place finisher Battle finished the same drill in just 2.86 seconds. Carr was also second-to-last among guards in the lane agility tests, with a time of 11.89 seconds – over 1.5 seconds slower than the leading time of 10.31 seconds by Duke’s Grayson Allen. His lane agility time of 11.89 seconds was only better than five centers or power forwards.

He tested athletically like a PF. Not sure how much lateral agility, quickness can be trained/learned.

Anytime you are picking after 50 the chances of a guy even remotely panning out are extremely slim. You basically see if the guy has a single skill set that might be useful. I guess they see his 3pt shooting/scoring as something that MIGHT translate and allow him to make a roster.

I wouldn't spend any time worrying or thinking about the 51st pick.

In the Demps interview a reporter said "he just compared his game to Jrue Holiday" and Demps just started laughing for about 5 seconds and then said "I'll say let's just see what happens"

They like his size, his scoring and his IQ.
Demps interview He said he may not even be on the roster this year but maybe he is next year. People should set expectations to be somewhere between previous failed PG experiments Russ/Pierre and fringe NBA player Tim Frazier.

Tim Frazier was undrafted

Yeah. Obviously he wasn't the player drafted 19 years ago.

Allen Iverson talent and tenacity would be gold.

That’s dreaming though
