The Knicks quest to land Zion Williamson begins with a bang

Yes, a regular season game 70 games into his career means the Knicks are going to steal Zion later.

quote:

Williamson, who needs some work on his foul shooting, actually had a couple of his shots blocked. Other than that, at age 20, he is exactly what Randle called him — a handful. Times 10. The good news is that the Knicks beat Williamson in their first matchup. The better news is that they made a hell of a first impression on him … for down the road.

When your franchise has hit rock bottom, you'll do anything to try and bring fans hope.

No serious free agent is going to the Knicks with Dolan owning the team. End of story...

Melo came via a trade and the fact he is from NY. Amare signed because the Knicks were willing to pay more, and he was closer to the end of his career. Those were over a decade ago as well.

I will say that in hiring Thibs, and pretty solid front office moves lately....they are trending in the right direction.

They also have cap space and a pretty good collection of young talent. There might not be many big fish this year, but I would look out for them in the next couple years as a desirable free agent destination.

It’s like you people haven’t been paying attention to what’s going in New York.

There President of Basketball Ops was the biggest agent at CAA.

RJ Barrett has been playing very well. Randle is only 26 and getting better. They have started to turn things around.

Cool, no player on a rookie contract that was offered a max extension has ever turned it down. So Zion is going to be on the Pels for the foreseeable future. Let me know how good Julius Randle is 7 years from now when this matters.

Oh yeah, and who owns the Knicks again?

Having Zion is like having a hot arse girlfriend. You know what every guy is thinking when they see her and are always checking her out. But at the end of the day, she’s coming home with you. But, you do need to keep her happy so she doesn’t look elsewhere.

Zion isn't going anywhere, because the Pels are going to be title contenders in a couple of years, and Zion is going to enjoy competing for NBA championships.

In addition, Zion's brand will have even more success as he builds on his identity as a Pelican and elevates our team to an elite level. People always admire someone who lifts up others more than they admire someone who latches on to others for his success.

And even after he signs his next max deal, he'll still be making considerably more in endorsements than he will from actually playing basketball -- and that disparity will increase as he starts to lead the Pelicans deep into the playoffs.

The Knicks will not be competing for championships anytime soon, and they still wouldn't even if they had Zion, but Zion still wouldn't be going there if if they were.

Where did I say Zion was going to the Knicks moron?

My post was specifically about the overall improvement of the Knicks since Rose took over. That’s a fact. And Randle will be 31 with a game that’s going to age well.

The Knicks are trending upward, Dolan or not.

Until the Pelicans prove otherwise that have become a farm team to the NBA blue bloods.

Paul to LA
Davis to LA
Williamson to somewhere unless Griffin stops building assets and instead build winners.

And his point you were responding to is that no big free agent has or will sign with the Knicks. Them being average doesn't change that.

The frick it doesn’t. LeBron to LAL. Durant and Kyrie to Brooklyn.
Butler to Miami.

When marquee markets are run effectively, star players gravitate to them.

No one here is dumb, we all know who Leon Rose is and his background. Again, who owns the Knicks? If the Knicks make the playoffs this year it will be the sixth time they’ve made it since Dolan owned the team....He’s been the owner since 1999. For perspective, New Orleans in that same period, which has only had a basketball team since 2002, has made it 7 times. That includes a relocation season from Katrina and a period of being owned by cheapskate Shinn. So forgive me if I’m not convinced the Knicks “are back” (for real this time).

The knicks are going nowhere.

And for everyone on the thibs train give it another year and they’ll hate him and he’ll be gone.

You can only run pros into the ground so long. Once their bodies start breaking down there will be a revolt
