Yeah could definitely see this coming a mile away. Need another ball handler desperately.

waiving troy williams also costs the rockets some offset money on their cap, so...frick the rockets

Getting the boys back together

I figured we would grab him. I assume his contract is NG if we claimed off waivers.

Pelicans pick up Frazier's non-guaranteed salary for this year and cut Williams, who will clear waivers on Friday and thus
1. get a year of service for this season, even if he doesn't sign with another team, and
2. Make $34,183 for the four days he spend on the Pelicans roster.

Per @cleantheglass, the Pelicans played 515 possessions in 2016-17 with Frazier at PG, Moore on the wing, and AD at the 5.
Their net rating in those possessions was +11.7, & Jrue was only on the floor for 14% of those possessions.

I like Frazier but his defense is bad. Still, can’t be picky about a backup PG.

Is he available tonight?
Posted on 10/17/18 at 5:43 pm to TeddyPadillac
not tonite probably but Frazier will clearly be the first guard off the bench. that means he will likely get 20 minutes as long as he plays well-ish. credit to MM for calling this and also that FJ is not currently in the rotation

Why the frick would they waive Troy and not K?
Posted on 10/17/18 at 5:48 pm to Aussie_Pelican
They didn’t like Troy’s IQ but I’m also willing to bet the wanted K-Will on a 2-way but agent said no. Probably more worried they’ll lose him on the open market versus Troy too.

Cant take much credit for "calling this" - I was outright told by someone in the org
And if not Frazier, it was gonna be Lawson

Any reason why they cut Troy instead of K?
Do you think Tim is a better option to Ty?

They knew Troy wasn't going to be on this team weeks ago. His ball IQ is just not there. If Jack wouldn't have been so crappy, T Will would have already been gone.
The skill set Frazier brings is far more needed than what Ty Wallace would have brought. The team really had hope that Frank would be ready to be a rotation guy from game 1 this year but he simply isn't ready yet. Frazier will get more minutes than Wes Johnson. They see him as more of a need at this point. Wes Johnson is a contract who might play if other guys crap the bed. Frazier is actually needed.
