I'm starting to get the worrisome feeling that Gayle values loyalty more than actual results.

She seems to have a very tight circle with the two teams.

Lauscha, Loomis and then a rung or two down, Griffin.

Gayle seems hesitant to dismiss people she likes.

Example: Uncle Al. He was given an unnecessary extra year because he was well liked. Seems like no one liked Stan so that was easier.

How many other owners would have kept Dennis Allen after last year. He's a collossal failure at everything. He's the worst coach in the NFL, yet he survives?

Why? Because Loomis and Lausca are way too comfortable and preach continuity to Gayle and she buys it.

She's going to buy Griffin's "injury" excuses this year too.

Ultimately, when teams/companies fail, it starts at the top.

This is no different.

If Griff survives this, it will be third time Gayle has kept an incompetent coach/GM longer than she should have.

Gentry, Allen, Griff. And that's not even counting the mounting pressure that should be on Loomis.

I personally would have put him on the hotseat for trying to convince me to sign Deshaun Watson. What a fricking joke that decision was.

I don't know. The Gentry extra year example is the only one I can really buy.

it happens, but not that many coaches get fired after 1 year unless it's a complete trainwreck. That may be where we disagree, but going 7-10 with Andy Dalton isn't exactly a horrible result. It's about what we should have expected.

With Griff, 30 games ago we were 23-12 and the #1 seed, and we were all praising the job Griff did building this roster. Then our best player gets hurt, and now we want to fire him? Seems a bit premature.

We can definitely breakdown all of Griff's swings and misses, but it all boils down to Zion's health. If Zion was healthy these past 4 years, we'd likely all have completely different opinions on Griff and how good he was at his job. Hell, like I said, we actually did do that just within this season.

I seriously doubt Griffin is comfortable after all the head coaches he's been through. I sat near him for the Timberwolves game where BI came back and he did not look happy or comfortable seeing us play like crap.

Right

Gentry is a good example, but SVG kinda offsets that.

Allen and Griff, it's not some crazy idea that they're both still around after their respective seasons. Both have teams ravaged by injuries, and while for the Pels you can still expect to have been better, it's tough to judge these guys when they legit never have their best players all playing.

Dell Demps lasted as long as he did in part because he ran a tight ship financially. I don't think it's that shocking that the snake oil salesman is not up front about Zion's injury in the middle of season ticket renewal season. If the money side of the house is ok he buys more time to fix his mistakes on the basketball side.

You don’t fire coaches/GM’s after one year unless it is a complete and utter disaster.

You suggesting Griff should be fired? Willie?

Front office people who are comfortable don't try to improve the team and are not aggressive.

You can't say that about the Saints are Pels. The Saints are arguably the most aggressive team in the NFL sometimes causing more damage than good but I can't blame them for trying to win.

The same for the Pels with all the uncertainty around the Pels one thing I can guarantee is that the front office will be very aggressive this off season I'm just hoping we don't wiff

The Willie thing is absurd.

Don't get me wrong, I have my concerns too but calling for his firing is just silly.

We were all 100% onboard with Willie after last season. And while it wasn't perfect and we called out things we'd like to see improved early in the season, we were still the #1 seed through 35 games with Zion. Then Zion gets hurt and the wheels fall off.

AGAIN, we should still be better when BI returns, but when you put it all together, you simply can't fire a coach under those circumstances. You simply haven't seen enough to remotely warrant that.

People confuse wanting to see improvement with we have to fire that guy immediately because we need improvement.

I'm not calling on Willie to be fired. Allen should have been fired mid season last year.

Abomination of a hire and a joke of a coach.

That team with Dalton and the injuries they had, honestly, you expected how many wins?

Dalton shouldn't have been the QB No. 1.

When a defensive guru loses to a QB that throws for less than 50 yards, he's out of his league.

Then he brings back the same shitty OC that couldn't do anything all year?

Then he hires a retread DC from a failed Browns team?

Dude's a clown.

He blew at least 5 games with bad coaching last year that Payton would have won.

You are getting downvoted and idk fricking why. Dennis and Mickey are fat cats still eating off of 2010. They know they are part of the succession plan and they know they aren't going anywhere.

People in denial about how bad it's about to get for the Saints I guess. Dark days are here.

People thinking this team is going to win the division because of David Carr are in for a rude awakening. I predict 7-10 or worse. Allen is that bad.

They need the same thing the Pels need. A top Offensive Coordinator.

The problem lies in that Gayle has no background in running a successful business. Dennis handles all of her personal finances and is getting paid over $15m. He, Gayle and Mickey will continue to ride the gravy train that Mr B built. There has been little to no turnover in executives within the organization in 15 years outside of basketball ops.

When Zion was healthy, the Pels made it to the top of the West. Griff has his flaws, but he undeniably put together a title-contending roster led by multiple stars this year.

And this is a league determined by stars. Yet, of the 66 games played, the Pels' star, Zion, has only played in 29, missing 37 games. Their other star, BI has only played in 31 games, mising 35. Significant contributors in Herb & Larry have each missed 16 games.

How is this Griff's fault? I could spread the blame on everybody from Zion/BI's physical fitness/ preparedness to Ochsner & the training staff apparent incompetence, to Willie Green questionable lineups, etc. but Griff's direct culpability for losses would be low on the list.
