Look, the same ole Pels wouldve been down 10-20 all game and got it back to single digits early 4th, only to lose at the end.

Theres going to be a ton of growing pains with Fears playing crunch time minutes over Herb, and we still got a lead back late.

Theres plenty of good to look at and a lot of bad that needs to be corrected.

The pacers are a definitely a good team with a healthy Halliburton. Last time they were together for a full season they took OKC to 7 games in the finals.

It was just disheartening to see our defense yet again falter down the stretch. We simply could not stop Siakam and Halliburton. Hopefully things change on that end, but idk man, this has been happening for over a decade now. Even during the AD years we would blow leads late all the time.

There were a lot of positives, Missi looked good, Queen had some moments, Zion seemed more engaged on defense and hit a couple 3’s. It also could have been a different outcome if Siakam got techs on the two obvious flops.

The true turning point in the game was that stretch where we committed 4 fouls in like 30 seconds, putting Indiana in the bonus with 9-10 minutes to go. I also have no idea why Mosley didn’t sub our starters back into the game when Indiana subbed in Halliburton and Zubac. We went from up 9 to up 1 in like 2 minutes

well, you hired a recently fired coach that had a reputation for confounding rotation decisions....so not really surprising.

I thought we looked better. But still the same issues in the 4th.

Not sure why coach took so long to put the starters back in during the 4th and not playing Herb in the 4th.

I thought DJ, Zion, Messi, Queen, and Bey looked good.

Fears looked young but is the real deal.

Mathern looked like he is still adjusting to the new team

Murphy??

We looked better on defense but not good in the 4th.

Only game 1.

heading into this game, i thought we had a roster that Dejounte could have been a tradeable piece. Leaving this game, he's in no way a tradeable piece right now. He's a core part of what we're building for the immediate future.

Sure, the Pelicans can't though.

This is probably the best Pels team on paper since AD was here with Boogie.

This team is not winning more than 30 games this year.

It's unfortunate, but it's just the reality of the situation.

There were definitely some positives.

Zion shooting threes could be big. We've been begging for it for 7 years. The airball at the end was diheartening but if he shoots enough to make guys come out and defend him then his drives could be more effective and would probably pick up more fouls with scrambling defenders. Hopefully it's not a fluke like his first career game when he went 4/4 then never shot another three.

The rotations were concerning. It's kind of baffling that Mosley let an awful unit stay out there so long and just let them foul and foul and foul and play bad defense until they gave the leas away.

if he can combine a little of this mixed with better ball control decisions, finish a few more layups like he usually does and limit the turnovers, zion could be "fixed" as being a dependable strong piece of this roster mixed with all of our other good going on. Missi!! Queen got a lot of good. Mathurin etc.

I appreciate your optimism. Don’t really see the point of frequenting the board just to spout misery. It’s just basketball after all.

My single biggest complaint last night was the rotation in the fourth quarter. He didn't bring back any starter until the lead was completely gone. Zion sat from the 6 minute mark of the third until the 7minute mark of the fourth. That unit obviously needed a spark. I don't understand why he didn't bring back Zion and Murray earlier. Zion and Murray only played 13 minutes in the second half.

he had a bad stretch in that first half driving the lane, hopefully he's just getting some rust off. i like the team chemistry and talent on this team. I don't sense a ton of selfishness and i feel like we have a ton of guys that can have their moments throughout the game. We will need to figure out a bit better the closing out decisions when we have such a deep roster. Herb is one guy i'm kind of done with. I don't think he's gotten enough "anger" from the fan base from his slight regression and not really improving past few years.

If he’s not going to start and only get 17 minutes, you could look at shopping him but you lose a lot of your perimeter defense. Dejounte can maybe pick up that slack but he’s going to be gassed having to be the best defender and 1st or 2nd top scorer.

Pretty sure the lineup will change based on the matchup. I'd be surprised if Herb isn't starting and playing big minutes against Utah where the matchup requires Herb's length and strength.

ETA: it’s essentially herb or trey as being the guy that gets traded imo
