KK is a pretty good player, has to have the talent around so if Zion is healthy, he can be another shooter.

Not sure on the D though.

I spent some time last night and this morning looking into guys, and I think Kneuppel would be at the top of my board. It seems to me the guys around our slot (that I like) are Fears, Johnson, Maluach, Knueppel, Boyles, and Queen. I would probably rank them something like:

Knueppel
Maluach
Johnson
Boyles
Queen
Fears

Another guy I really really like, who would probably be a trade back candidate, is Nique Clifford from Colorado St. He's older but is a knock down shooter, can put the ball on the ground, can finish at the rim, really good rebounder, quality defender. He's gonna play above his draft spot

Doesn’t Queen have significant conditioning concerns? In light of the last few years we should probably steer clear.

KK I think will be reliable as a bench option and is far more well rounded than Hawkins but I was hoping for an instant impact gamer. Then we got 7.

If my understanding is correct he had conditioning concerns, but by all accounts he did a good job at Maryland. Supposedly he really shed some pounds once he got into their program. I don't think the conditioning is as much of a concern as just his motor not always running hot.

I would love Queen, personally. He is the same size as Boogie and has that offensive game we need. He and Missi would be a good match. I’m sure we will pick Malauch though.

Dumars is already falling in love with Maluach.

I love how that's a video of him practicing a shot he will literally never take in a game, nor would any coach ever want him taking in a game. He's not even pump faking the 3, which would at least make it somewhat of a realistic shooting drill.

Kneuppel would be pretty out of character for Weaver. The only player I think he’s ever drafted with a wingspan under 6’8” was Sasser who was a 6’2” pg. Limited wingspan + athleticism makes Kneuppel a long shot.

If I’m taking bets on the Pelicans pick at 7, it will be one of these 3:

(1) Maluach (most likely if available)
(2) Tre Johnson
(3) Carter Bryant

*Out of the box guess would be Noa Essengue

I keep thinking about the little Dumars has said this offseason and him specifically mentioning needing 2 good bigs.

I think he will want one of Queen or Mal

Derik Queen come on down.

Dumars wants toughness and a rim protector.

I really like Collin Murray-Boyles. He would be a bit of a reach at #7, but people rave about him.

If you look at our team now, we have Zion and Murphy on the wing. McCollum will be the primary point until Murray comes back. Jones will probably be delayed too. CMB can step right into the 4 spot. Elite defender and rebounder that loves to bang. We don't have to do the two big line up anymore and he can run. Very high floor prospect. I'd suggest moving back, but I don't think he goes much later as he's borderline top 10..

I like him, but that shooting percentage from three is pretty rough. He was stuck on a bad team though, and had to take some late shot clock attempts.

I'm honestly not interested in drafting anyone at 7. None of them sound all that great. I really hope we trade the pick.

Either trade the pick with Zion to get to #1/2, or keep Zion and trade the pick, CJ, and other picks to get an allstar back in return. I have zero interest in hoping the #7 pick turns into a role player, much less a solid starter. Statistically the odds of him turning into an allstar is around 25%.

This is based on 1990-2020, so 30 years worth of data on who has actually made an all-star team from each draft spot:

It can be developed. He can easily get to 30+%. The stroke is good and he is improving.

Just looking at the field and who is most likely to play/start of who would be there, is there a safer bet than CMB? Barring injury, he's just not going to bust. I'd take the sure thing..
