You seem to think Heurter has no value.

They love Huerter. The only reason Collins' name comes up in trade talks is that he is due a contract well into the $20 millions and the Hawks may not be sure they want to pay that much for him given their roster makeup.

C'mon man. do you honestly think i put those two in there b/c i thought they had value. I literally just complained about moron bloggers proposing trades that weren't possible and made no sense. We can't take back 3 players without sending out 3. Neither team gives a shite about Parsons, Okafor, or Kenrich. They are there to simply facilitate the trade. I shouldn't have to explain that.

I proposed this out of the blue trade idea simply to see what others thought about the value of Jrue vs Collins/Huerter.

I'm also aware of Huerter's value, just figured he'd be the one they'd be more willing to part with over Hunter and Reddish, and would have less value given how young the other two are. You have to pay more for their potential, i would think.

Not sure Jrue fits the timeline of their players anyway. Don't think he would be high on the Hawks list of targets.

both still on rookie contracts and for both they can control if they want to keep them for multiple years after that. Jrue can just bail after another year which he probably would. They would never do this

that didnt' answer the question.
Jrue is a better player than both of them, and will be for the next few years. Maybe....maybe Collins can become a better player.

We should all know that trading 4 quarters for a dollar doesn't make sense in the NBA. I'm not saying Jrue is some great asset to have like AD, but he's a better player than both of them. Would the Hawks rather have Jrue/replacement for Collins, or Collins and one of their young SG's (Hunter/Huerter/Reddish)?

Jrue's contract is something i'd worry about if I was Atlanta. That is a good point. Jrue is getting one more nice contract. Does Atlanta want to commit to that is the question. If so, they'd get 5 good years of Jrue more than likely.

Just yesterday, Steve Mills was on the phone trying to negotiate trades for the Knicks, including a pursuit for Golden State's D'Angelo Russell, league sources tell ESPN. Ownership pushed to change course on plans to forgo trade talks for Marcus Morris, too. He's available now.

Interesting. Besides Harkless, I wonder what they would add to match salary. Probably nothing will come of it.

Pistons looking for a 1st for Kennard. Could he be the type of player the Pels would spend their 1st on (something like top 8 protected)?

it would also cost two of jackson/okafor/kenrich, in addition to the pick, to be legal.

i'd do it in heartbeat.
that trade would also open a roster spot.

Players would only be to match salary. Not sure Okafor and Williams, for example, hold a lot of value on the trade market. A protected 1st in this year's draft would seem to not hold as much value as a player like Kennard (averaging 16 points and a career 40% 3pt shooter).

those are end-of-bench guys and the pels would be better off with open roster spots for 10-day players and buyout pickups. its literally addition by subtraction, and iuncluding two of those guys in that deal actually helps the pels

yes kennard is worth a top 8 protected pick

on the value of roster spots
quote:

Hearing that the teams that currently have open roster spots (Brooklyn, Cleveland, Denver, Golden State (2 open spots), Houston, Minnesota and Oklahoma City,) are likely to keep those spots open until after the trade deadline passes. No need to clear space in a multi-player trade.

Not sure why GS would take on Wiggins and give up Russell for Minny's #1. ATL would have to be giving up at least the Nets #1 in the deal as well.
