If we want to commit to Zion at the 5, then Covington is one of the perfect 4's to play with him.
That being said, i dont think we should be trading all those picks for a 29 year old.
I'd like Bjelica, and 3 2nds seems somewhat fair, although i think 2nds is what my asking price would be, but again, this cat is 31 years old.
I like Leonard, but i'm not giving up 5 good 2nds for him for the remainder of this year and then he's a free agent. That's ludicrous. Maimi needs to get under the tax. They can have 1 2nd, maybe 2, with Miller and get under or right near getting under the tax (i didn't look at the specifics but i know they need to clear around $4M to get under). That's a fair deal.
Bertans would be a great fit, but he is an expriring, although you do get his bird rights. Kind of a risky move to trade all those assets for someone you might not get to resign.

Probably like the Bjelica one the best.

the ringer, two fake trades for every team
quote:
New Orleans Pelicans
Major: Jrue Holiday and Jahlil Okafor to the Heat for Tyler Herro, Goran Dragic, Meyers Leonard, and the Heat’s 2020 first-round pick
You never want to lose a player like Holiday, but a team working with the extended runway provided by Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram should at least consider it. A package like this bridges short-term production with long-term potential. How it hits you likely depends on what you make of Herro; Miami’s front office, for example, might be too bullish to part with the 20-year-old shooter so soon.
Minor: E’Twaun Moore, Jahlil Okafor, the Pelicans’ 2020 second-round pick, and the Wizards’ 2020 second-round pick to the Knicks for Marcus Morris
If we’re operating under the assumption that New Orleans is ready to push for the no. 8 seed, they could stand to upgrade their bench with a reliable combo forward. Morris should be available if the Knicks come to their senses, though perhaps that assumes too much.

I like Meyers Leonard, I think hes a great fit next to Zion. He has turned into a great 3 point shooter and plays above average Defense, but isnt worth it unless Team feels they can resign him to a decent deal.

yes leonard has quietly become quite productive
Posted on 2/4/20 at 9:57 am to cgrand
is he the one that got hurt last night?

quote:Is Ellis high? Both of these are absolutely ludicrous. Way way too much to give up for these players. Heck, Leonard is an expiring so we would be renting him for a couple of months of a non-playoff (likely) season.

I have a greater chance of being signed off the street than that deal has of happening

I'm not a fan of those trades either really, but just remember that:
The Cleveland "First Round Pick" is not a first round pick. Its 2 2nds, because that pick will not convey this year (top 10 protected).
This 2020 class is considered to be one of the worst in awhile so people are all of a sudden willing to part with our pick.
I personally am not unless an amazing deal comes along. I want us to use our damn picks unless we are trading for a real difference maker.

I think the most important thing for us to figure out is if we want Zion playing the 5, and who's the best big man to fit with him. Is it a traditional 5 that can spread the floor, like a Horford or Turner, or is it 4 that can defend big like a Covington/Tobias/Grant.
I think if you go the 4 route, it has to be a guy that can help rebound really well. I don't particularly like the idea of Zion being the guy that has to block out the best rebounder from the other team, meaning he likely doesn't get as many rebounds and is late to start most fast breaks.
all that being, i think that small big that will play with Zion needs to be drafted. Jaxson is going to develop into a great 5 in this league. His rim running will create space by itself, and i am confident he will develop a consistent outside shot.
I'd rather take the many chances we have at our disposal with early 2nd round picks and find that diamond in the rough. They are always there.
There's really no need to do anything just yet trade wise.

good lord, if these morons are going post trade ideas, they need to do some very simple research before presenting their dumb ideas, like who's an expiring contract and if a pick can actually be traded.
The Heat can't trade their 2020 pick until after they actually make the pick, b/c they don't own their 2021 pick. so this trade can't happen until the offseason, which would be impossible b/c Dragic and Leonard will be FA's.

quote:I think everyone realized that Cleveland pick will become 2 2nds. Still way too much for that player. He is not nearly as good as some are making him out to be. Also, the 2 2nds from Cleveland still have value given they are likely to be very high in the second and do not carry automatic guaranteed contracts.

I would be furious if the Pels gave up a likely lottery pick (even if it’s a late lottery pick) for any of those guys.
That’s the type of patch work bullshite that fricked up the AD rebuild.

Here's an actual fake trade idea.
Jrue/Okafor/Kenrich for Parsons expiring deal, John Collins and Kevin Heurter (6'7" 21 year old shooting 40% from 3 point in his 2nd year taking 5 a game over those 2 years).
have your 3 headed monster down low for the future with Zion/Collins/Hayes. Would just need that 4th big to be a low contract guy that can play spot minutes to help cover the bigger 5's of the league like Jokic.

Dont see the Hawks agreeing to that, unless you include some picks

You think we'd have to throw in a pick to get Collins for Jrue?
Is Collins worth more than Jrue is?
I honestly don't know. I thought we might would need to offer a pick when i first thought of it, but i do'nt know how much Collins is valued by Atlanta and the rest of the league.
I might be interested in adding our '21 1st to it, not our '20 first. If they wanted more than that, then no i'm not interested.
I think Jrue is the perfect SG to play with Trae, same with Lillard.

You seem to think Heurter has no value.
Posted on 2/4/20 at 10:56 am to TeddyPadillac
Why would the Hawks give up two of their best young players? They have a young core of Young, Collins, Reddish, and Heurter, they probably have a top pick and they have a bunch of cap space going into the summer. Why would they trade for Kenrich and Okafor, two players who get DNPCD almost every game. Jrue makes sense because Trae Young can’t guard to save his life, but the rest of the trade doesn’t make sense. IMO they need to trade for a 5 (they are thinking about Capela). I think they should go big and see if Minnesota is still taking calls on KAT. Trade their most likely top 3 pick for him. They would be a horrible defensive team, but if they use the loads of cap space they have to sign some good defenders that come of the bench, they could be good.
