Exactly. I don't hate Zion. I supported that guy for almost 5 years, buying a bunch of Zion gear in the process. That said, I'm not going to settle for the NBA fan version of battered wife syndrome, which is what most fans on this board have been advocating for.

It’s pretty crazy. Everywhere outside of this board sees what is going on.

And look, I get it. I clung on to it as well.

And it appears we are hanging on to him for another year, so there’s hope.

Im just not sure he really wants to be here.

You should post our record with Ingram this year.

Sure, we are 5-13 with BI (.277 win percentage).

Pelicans overall record when they play:
Zion 103-96
BI 149-156

People can argue that we need to move on from Zion because he can’t stay healthy, is immature, has conditioning issues, can’t be a number 1 option, or any other off the court problems they want. But it’s simply dumb to act like the Pels aren’t better when he’s on the court

I can't imagine a single person believes he wants to be here. I doubt Griffin even believes it in his heart of hearts.

Clearly we are better when he plays.

But you also have to account for who all is playing, in each of those games.

Rarely do we have all our starters healthy at the same time. It’s skewed data.

agreed. Without him we’re a bottom 3 team in the league, with him we’re a bottom 15 team

Maybe BI's record would be better if he got to actually play with Zion who basically sat out for 3 of his first 4 years here.

Even when they played together, they were only 81-73 together, and it is pathetic that they played in only 154 of a possible 475 games. That's 32% of the time.

Touché, we could be 14-37 if he had been healthy all season

Wouldn't it stand to reason that Zion's record would also then be better?

Given that BI has played more games, it would stand to reason that Zion has a higher percentage of his games with BI's help than BI has with Zion's help.

Quick numbers:

Zion was active in 50.5% of the games BI played
BI was active in 77.4% of the games that Zion played

So yeah, Zion got more help and his overall winning percentage is only 3.4% higher.

I love how people down vote this fact simply b/c they can’t accept acknowledging that BI is a really good player.
This doesn’t say BI is better than Zion. The key take away is they can’t even share the court together a third of the time in 5.5 years so we have so little to go on to say that they actually fit or don’t fit together.

This board has hated me for years for challenging their groupthink. I wear those downvotes like a badge of honor.

No one is downvoting that post because they believe that BI isn’t a good player. People are downvoting GI because he’s being unnecessarily bullish. He is arguing that the team is worse when Zion plays which is objectively false by any metric.

Everyone agrees that Zion’s unavailability or unreliability is an issue that has made it impossible to build a team around him so far in his career. Nearly everyone also agrees that his future with the Pels probably won’t last much longer.

Btw, and I don’t say this to bash Ingram, but in the last 2.5 years, Ingram has only played 13 more games than Zion. Each of them have some blame in this inability to share the court
