I'd only trade it if we can get an up and coming young player who fits a need. Otherwise, we should just keep it and take the best player available.

In a draft where the drop off between #3 and #4 is steep, taking the best player available at #4 doesn't make sense. You trade down.

Legit Question: What’s the 4th pick worth this year? Ben Simmons? Lamb? Rubio? Willie Cauley-Stein? Robin Lopez? Vucevic? What?

Trading down only works if you don't love any one player. What use is it to trade down if the player you covet isn't there? If the players are that close in ranking, you don't know if the player you covet will be there when you pick. Why risk it? You are sitting in prime position. If teams are trying to trade up, does it not mean that the pick is valuable at it's slot?

Who knows at this point

But I’d honestly rather keep it and take De’Andre Hunter or Culver

We’re less than a week away from the draft. We should have some idea.

Or do we take the Boston route and trade for future picks? Or do future picks lose value with the new draft format? Or gain value?

It is valuable to a team who wants a specific talent at that spot and is currently a few spots back.

Ex - Phoenix or Chicago could want Garland or Coby White and may pay a slight premium to ensure they get the one they really want rather than risk missing either or both.

Someone like Atlanta has a bunch of picks and a few young players and could be looking for a very specific player to put next to Trae Young, so they could package some combination of a player, 8, 10, an additional 2019 pick (19?), and/or a 2020 pick.

Getting a player, moving back, and getting a 2020 pick isn’t the worst thing depending on who we have our eye on, such as Doumbouya.

Depends on where we are moving.

I might take a player, a lesser pick this year, and a future pick if we are going far enough back.

We could get one of Hunter/Culver at 8

Cleveland probably takes one of them

ATL would take reddish

CHI/PHX take Garland/White

Well if we aren’t “in love” with any player in that tier, there are worse things than acquiring current or future assets for the right to choose later.

What picks do the Pels have in the 2nd round?

This may be the homer in me, but if we have one or more 2nds, I’d look at Kavell Bigby-Williams as a mid-late second or UFA.

Competent rebounder, and can protect the rim. Probably needs at least one year in G League, but I could see him developing into a solid bench rotational player who plays 12-25 mpg.

Anyone who can do that would be a potentially valuable piece. I just mentioned KBW because I know his game. Really anybody who can block shots and protect the rim would suffice.

Then 57 or UDFA. No harm in scheduling a workout.

Pelicans need to keep this pick unless there is an All Star coming back in return. Period.

People keep saying it’s a 3 person draft.
I’d rather Hunter, Culver and White over Barrett. He’s highly overrated imo

Woj on ESPN: "(The Pelicans) are going to shop that No. 4 pick and try to turn it into a quality starter they can plug into that lineup."

Sounding more like BI and Zo stay, and Pels only shift the No. 4 pick (or future picks) in a new deal.

If we're looking for a quality starter and are keeping Ingram/Lonzo that would say Center is the place we need a quality starter. Remember when we a thread a few days ago that said Indy was interested giving up a center for #4 and stuff?

I don't know how Indy feels but I think the Pels would like

Myles Turner and Aaron Holiday

for

Solo/Moore/#4/Future somethings(2nds/1st)

I want Garland or Hunter if we keep the fourth pick.

Would rather trade back with Atlanta to dumb Hill and pick up two first rounders or see if I can trade 4 for Myles Turner
