re: T or F: The SVG hire means that Jrue and JJ will not be traded in the offseason

Yeah I can see that and that's my bad, but shouldn't it be patently obvious that Michael McNamara was not doing a podcast with Zach Lowe and you already know Stan Van Gundy has done one that we've talked about a bunch?

I don't see it as a lock, especially for Jrue.
SVG is defensive minded, I would put it around 50/50 that both Jrue and Lonzo are traded for other pieces (Lonzo for a high draft pick, Jrue for a package around the lines of Jrue and Miller to Philly for Horford and Richardson)
JJ unless he asks out will stay here, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign a 1-2 year extension.

I'm perfectly fine with keeping both, but if you keep Jrue, Lonzo has to go.

Not necessarily. Jrue and BI are both great penetrators and good playmakers, Lonzo is money from a catch and shoot three.
Just run point by committee without needing to designate the same quarterback every trip down the floor
It's not perfect but it could work

The problem with this is that you have nobody good enough at this role when the defenses clamp down in the 4th quarter and in playoff games. Maybe you can use the MLE to bring in someone like Augustin or trade Miller and 2nds for Derrick Rose, but if you just run it back you have a major problems, especially if Stan slows things down any and we see more half court action.

Ingram and Zion needs to develop that part of their game. It’s as simple as that. The offense has to go through those 2 in the half court. I have faith in SVG’s ability to get the best out of these 2 in the half court.

I agree, we need at least one high level, reliable ball handler going forward to help out Jrue. Do you think we should target a point guard in the draft like Kira Lewis?

Bring Rondo or CP3 back

There are several guards I like at 13 including Lewis. But even if they pan out, the odds of them being good enough to help this season are low. Buddy was drafted because he was the most "NBA ready" but it was February of his rookie season before he stopped being a terribly net negative player.

Yeah, I was talking 3 or 4 years down the track, sort of like how Murray is driving Denver deep into the playoffs as the lead guard now

along with them giving a lot of long term, big money Lebron buddy deals to keep the band together.
I'm expecting Klutch represented KCP to get paid. Honestly getting the ring out of the way probably keeps them from even considering being responsible.

Which has happened at literally every single stop on the Lebron tour. He’s left every team in shambles when he left. All of them.

Of course JJ will stay, and goddammit i don't care if it makes sense or not I want Jrue to retire as a Pel.

I think the hire means they want to compete for the playoffs this season so I’d say true.
If you go listen to that podcast with Lowe, SVG is very reserved when Zach suggests the pelicans could be a 50 win team next season. He says "who is going to drop out?"
In my estimation, he knows the playoffs are a stretch.
I think the front office is going to go to JJ and ask him at least stay until the deadline. If he wants to go, they will try to trade him to a contender.
As for Jrue, the only way to obtain talent this off-season is via trade. So there will be a demand for his services. And his value significantly drops at the deadline. So if we trade him, do it now. I think the only way that I don't trade Jrue, is if he can agree to sign a somewhat friendly extension. Say 3/84.
