Well at least hiring Weatherspoon will help with the horrible PR this organization gets. You know the NBA and sports media will do everything they can to have the first female especially black female HC succeed

I don't think Kidd would take the job, anyways, he wasn't interested in Portland even though Dame money wanted him there

Kidd, currently a Lakers assistant, has taken himself out of consideration for the vacancy because he’s reportedly “uncomfortable” pursuing the opening in the wake of Lillard’s stance.

Kidds MO is to have his agent put his name out there as a candidate for literally every job and then “withdraw” his name.

How you guys feel about Billups? After watching lots of No Chill with Gilbert Arenas, I think we should hire a former player. Go watch the podcast where he has Earl Watson on

His name is already being thrown around in NBA circles. I would love the hire.

I for one would feel the same of any woman of any race that has a small sample of mid level women’s college coaching that was ultimately one big negative trend

Players league. Players love Kidd. We sign Kidd and Trade for Dame and we actually have a chance to win a ship. I see no other path that gives us that chance anytime soon, if ever.

The only way you see us getting a chip is by getting Dame?

You might as well find a new team to root for because that's not happening.

I reckon that happens majority of the times names are leaked for positions

Lillard started the talks of Kidd to Portland when he mentioned he wanted him or Chauncey though

She is not the most qualified person for the job which is the problem.

Would she be a strong candidate for the job if she WASN’T a black female?

I see no way for us to win a championship. Can I keep rooting for the Pels? Is “I think we are going to win it all” really a criteria? Lol

I mean then we’re talking about Becky Hammon who’s also a respected candidate and coach. So yes

Fwiw, I don't want her to get the job. But just curious, would you have been happy with a Steve Nash hire last year? Because what were his coaching qualifications?

If we are counting coaching experience (even just her one year in the NBA), she already has a longer resume than the following head coaches when they were hired (all of whom had never been a coach at all before):

2020 BRK Steve Nash
2014 NYK Derek Fisher
2014 GSW Steve Kerr
2013 BRK Jason Kidd
2011 GSW Mark Jackson
2008 CHI Vinny Del Negro
2005 MIN Kevin McHale
2000 IND Isiah Thomas
1999 ORL Doc Rivers
1997 IND Larry Bird
1995 BOS M.L. Carr
1994 LAL Magic Johnson
1993 DAL Quinn Buckner
1992 DEN Dan Issel
1987 PHO Dick Van Arsdale
1980 SDC Paul Silas

What are these qualifications anyway?

A lot of people back on the Monty hype train. Leaving here he had won 44% of games. Does one become disqualified if they did not have success at a stop?

What does anyone really know about theses coaches? (Hint: nothing)

I thought Kidd wanted to position himself for Lakers HC being the Cali boy he is, and only if something happened to Vogel of course, but then I read he's interviewing for Orlando opening. Smh Lol

What in her resume not in her appearance or gender makes her a good candidate for an NBA job?

Is it her time at LA Tech?
Is it her coaching experience in the NBA?

I think that’s what he is pointing out. There are plenty of male coaches in the NBA with similar or better resumes but they won’t even get an interview. Why is that?

I would have questioned it for sure but liked it more than Weatherspoon. Last time I checked, she wasn’t a multi-time MVP in the nba. And yeah, that matters to me.

She’s been an assistant in the nba a very short time. Her one HC job went poorly.

We should be shooting higher.

I would not have been happy with Nash. We are not a team built like Brooklyn with Veteran Stars everywhere.

If she wasn't on staff already, she wouldn't even be mentioned. You're ignoring that part of the equation. She isn't as unknown of a commodity inside the Pels organization as she is outside of it.
