First Take is hot garbage. ESPN content has gone to shite in the last seven years or so.

Look guys, I know it makes you mad. But it's gonna happen.

Would AD's trade value be worth more now or in the expiring year of his contract?

Before you answer, you have to remember that this team kept Gentry and Dell. Therefore they're CLEARLY not planning on winning with Davis.

If they fire Demps on the last day of the regular season and hire a guaranteed homerun GM, then maybe I'll take them serious.

If they keep him, it's over. And they'll probably keep him.

so to recap

Player Y(top 5 NBA talent) beats best team in the Eastern Conference

Talking heads think we should trade Player Y to said team for the 3rd to 5th best player on the their roster

On The Jump today, Tracy McGrady said that we should look to trade AD for assets and build around Cousins.

It was literally the stupidest thing I'd ever heard.

Because he's SCREAMIN A that's why! lol I actually love Stephen A's analysis of many things even if I don't necessarily agree with his positions, he's very informed, his delivery is simply delightful, and he's independent in his thinking he doesn't go full libtard or full conservative on any one issue he addresses. His attributes and presentation have essentially become his trademarks as a journalist/analyst throughout his career and created for him a vast audience that probably dates back like 15 years when Chris Broussard, Doug Gottlieb, Skip Bayless, Cowherd, Rob Parker, etc were previously on the network.

Pels: Tatum, Brown, Hortford, Lakers Pick

Celtics: Davis, Asik, Ajinca

Then we sign Cousins to a new deal. That is about the only way it goes down. I still would hate to lose our core of Davis, Holiday, and Cousins though.

I really wouldn’t even want Horford, but I don’t know how else we send out Davis and shed Asik. I would rather just Tatum, Brown, and picks since Horford is overpaid.

Stephen A is great. I’ve been a fan for 18 years. His radio show is great. Don’t judge him off first take

I’m staring to come around having to listen to him here in BR now. I did get frustrated today because he made it sound like AD is demanding to be traded.

Backwards.
It would have a better chance of happening if they did NOT keep Demps. That would signal a rebuild.
Demps isn't trading Davis.

Will not get both Tatum and brown unless you do not take Lakers pick

AD for Brown and tatum.

Tatum is 19 and leads association 3 pt shooting and he is gloriously smooth around basket.
Best in class.

If I were pels I would do Brown and Tatum for AD.
Cousins brown tatum.
yes.

This thought process is ridiculous. Tatum has been great in the Celtics system his rookie year. AD is a multiple times all nba 24 year old superstar. He is a top 10 player on a bargain contract who hasn’t even entered his prime. Ainge would easily part with Tatum, Brown and the Lakers pick to get AD locked up.

Yeah, I think you can get all 3 plus more for Davis. I don't really love any of our players and a rebuild is more interesting to me than grinding for the 8th spot. But I know a lot of people here really like Davis. Although I don't think he is the type of star that many people portray him to be..

I see our opinions differ.

I think Tatum is golden.
I thought so before season.

I value Lakers pick more than you think ainge does.

Right now Lakers pick to Celtics is trae young. Before actual lottery.

Keep AD. I'll take Celtics plus Hayward and trae young.

There's only one player in the NBA that is "that type of star" and even he needed tons of help to win a ring while playing in the weak Eastern conference--- and didn't do it at 24 either.

Tatum is a great player and maybe he turns into a top 10 player at some point, but AD is currently a top 10 player and is only 24. He is also really easy to incorporate into any offense and would work wonders in Stevens system paired with Kyrie. Celtics would be perrenially in the finals with AD and could compete with Golden State.

I also think you value the Lakers pick too much. It would currently convey and you can say Trae Young, but one more win and it is in the protection. It is protected for 1 and 6-30. In the end I think it stays with Philly. Lakers sit at 5 now, but have been playing better and will not tank like some teams ahead of them. So I think the pick is more likely than not the 2019 SAC.

I just do not see how any GM would pass up adding a super versatile 24 year old multi- first team all NBA two way player. Kyrie/Hayward/AD/Horford fit really well together and would dominate the east for years. The Celtics would also still have the other picks and ring chasing vets to fill out the roster.

did anyone see Gentry's comments about the Celtics rumors?

"...yeah, we'll trade him. But they are going to have to give us the New England Patriots and the two planes they just bought..."

I kind of love it

If you get that for Davis, it's not a rebuild. I would do it in a heartbeat.
Those 2 plus Jrue and Boogie and a stronger coach...

Part of it is that I just don't see this edition ever competing with the top 3 in west. Maybe a 48 win team if all goes well. And seemingly non-stop cap problems for a team with little depth.
