Why? Things change quickly in free agency. Maybe the Pels wanted to pursue a couple different things that didn’t work out so they’re seeing if they can work out a deal for Lauri.

Things change quickly for teams that don't have a well thought out plan going into free agency. If your scenario is true, it would make the front office look like world class clowns.

he’s objectively not worth 17MM for 3 years. Not even 2+ a non gtd year.

Just add Markkanen to the Lonzo S&T. Send them 2 2nds and then they immediately are taken by the league. Boom both teams are punished/ get what they want.

Name one of those backup PF's that are better than Markkanen. Our priorities probably weren't a backup PF first. Now that we struck out on extra shooting we have a chance to add extra shooting and a backup PF, killing 2 birds with one stone. And you'd rather be a bitchy pessimist.

I melted a good bit the first few days of FA, but I think the FO had a plan, and for the most part executed it, but underestimated the difficulty in getting UFA to sign here.
I think Mark has been a target of theirs from the start, and I think he could fit well in our Offense, which was in dire need of 3 pt shooters.
I can see them doing 2 Second Rounders for him
